H20Wolf -> AGM batteries/charger (5/12/2008 9:01:33 AM)

I have a 12v 55lb trolling sytem and picking up some AGM's.  What is a good charger to use for these.  Wal-Mart had 2 that both had AGM settings.  The 12Amp was $44 and the 75Amp was $63.

Thanks for any advice!

Buy this one, walmart also sells it

I bought one from this dude about a month ago. Had it in about two days. It does all batteries and is self maintaining(can let the charger hooked up). Overload protection too.

Your always better charging at a lower rate

I SWEAR by my Deka 8A31DT AGM's.  I carry 3 on board, 2 for my 24 volt bowmount and 1 cranking battery.  I use an onboard Dual Pro 3 bank pro charger for my system.  Would not be without it!!  At the end of the day, plug it in to an outlet and charges all 3 in 4-5 hours!  Simplicity!

H2O,

Have you ever considered an onboard charger?  I put a 3 bank charger from Bass Pro in my boat 5 years ago and I never take batteries out anymore.  Its one of the best things I put into it.  I leave it on all winter in storage to trickle and my 3 batteries are always ready to go.

Its called an XTS ProMariner for Bass Pro...3 Bank 5-5-5  Distributing 5 amps to each battery.

I also have the ProMariner 3 bank on my boat with the Trojan AGMs. I like being able to just plug in the charger.

What's a good on board charger for the optima's? I use a stayncharge because i dont have an outlet outside in the complex where i live. I could use it when i go on vacation tho.

I bought a cheaper single bank on board. It did nothing but cook a pair of batteries. It was the cheaper model from Dicks. I forgot to unplug one day when I was in a hurry and sucked the wires right out of it.
