yeah i read alittle about it on the dec site. So what if they find a special algea killer or maybe introduce some species that feed on this snot? I heard that walleye fry thrive on this stuff! yeah stock tons and tons of walleye! lol[8D]

From what I understand about rock snot, it will kill a stream.  It covers the bottom wiping out insect life and fish eggs.  No known remedy as far as I am aware.  This stuff is bad news.

I suggest you read up some more on this but if you choose not to be bothered than please keep it all downstate.
To suggest and I’m sure it was a joke, to introduce a foreign species than introduce a non-native group is absurd.
The least impact and best method to combat this is a bottle of "simple green" spray your waders and boots with a healthy dose when moving from one water shed to another. The other methods of salt, clorax solutions are by far bad,bad,bad .

tuna, I love my backyard and all outside of what idiot mankind has screwed up naturally.. I remember the days when the first signs on the resis up in catskill were posted about the fish consumption warning etc.. a few years witnessed the zebra mussel warnings and now see this algea snot rock warning.. I doubt very much that my waders be they felt or self cleaning will stop any invasion as sad as it is. I for one will respect gods country and do my part in preventive measures you suggest but honestly doubt it will stop what we are seeing here. especially if those that could care less. And you know the odds are against us who really care. Just enjoy and hope nature in the end adapts to this unfortunite ecological disaster..

It is good you want to preserve our natural resources too. And I think I understand you, no need to be sorry, not many are buying much anything either[:'(] I can only joke and laugh otherwise i'd cry! lol

Didymo?  This is the "rock snot" I think.  There are reports of it in the catskill streams.  I'm just waiting for it to migrate to the finger lakes area.  I guess about two years before it hits here.   The Columbian Exchange is a pretty good book that goes into invasive species.
