Ok, some of you my have thought I was talking Steelhead[:D] Nope, was wondering if anyone knows of a drill bit that would drill into spring steel. My old '48 Johnson kicker's recoil spring broke. Luckily it only broke about 3 inchs from the end. Now i need to drill another hole in the spring so I can rivet the steel loop back on that holds it on the cover.

   Any suggestions would be great

You might be better off finding a friend with a good punch, or torch it.  Though I'm far from an expert on such things.  Maybe a carbide bit would do the trick just fine.  I'd recommend using a plug-in drill though, as that kind of work usually eats through battery packs.

Thank you cold, I am using a drill press. I was thinking carbide also but wanted some input before i started buring up expensive bits. Titanium just scratchs it

Just so you guy's know, carbide went through it like butter.
