Texcobb99 -> Shenango - Sunday (5/3/2008 5:53:41 PM)

Hi all.  I am kinda new to this thread, and new to fishing Shenango.  I want to take my 8 yr old daughter there tomorrow and catch some crappies or whatever will hit.  I just want to make sure she catches lots of whatever....  I have a boat with 200 hp, so I can go anyhere on the lake.  Could someone give me input as to the best way to catch the crappie?  I was just going to buy minnows and float them under a bobber.  Any technique would be appreciated, water depth, area of lake to focus on, etc...

Thanks!!

I was there Wednesday.  Picked some up in about 3-4 fow along the wood on the shorelines with minnie under bobber on aberdeen hooks.  Also caught a real nice pike that ended up breaking me off on my trolling motor as well as a largemouth and one bluegill.  Good luck!

Find some submerged brush or trees that are providing cover near shore and you will find the crappie.  Good luck!

Thanks to all, I didn't get to go out.  But hopefully will next Saturday.

We caught some in wood and shoreline structure but had our best results on suspended schools out in the main lake channel in front of the coves.  It appeared to me that the recent cold front may have pushed many fish (particularly the big whites) out of the shallows.  None of the fish we kept were spawned out.  Yesterday was strange and the fish seemed to be spread out and moving constantly.  It was hard to get on a consistent pattern.
