went out and fished tonight for an hour , caught 5 smallies and a nice eating size walleye, biggest bass was like 4, the next was like 3 the others were on the small size though, but still had a good time

I have a place in pymy, and I ask myself why I don't fish french creek? Everyone says how great it is. How is the walleye population? Can you catch them consistently?

Decent population.  You can if you know where the holes are or have the ability to find them.  Fishing at night helps.

Smally hunter forgot to see you say all released un harmed couple days till waleye season comes in!

smally hunter -> RE: french creek (5/2/2008 7:32:17 AM)

thats all i do pretty much is catch and realease, so naturally released, it was just the best size for eating cuz it was in the 17 to 19 inch range

Earthquaker -> RE: french creek (5/2/2008 7:40:29 AM)

smally hunter, what were you catchin the smallie on? I'm not familiar with the French. Is that a mostly wading creek or can you float a canoe on it? Thanks - Earthquaker

Great for canoeing, plenty of areas for wading.  I have a camp on French Creek below Utica.

i was fishin in the franklin area, yea the place some people call the hilbilly zone, but normally just anything resembling a crawfish, like tubes and such, i wade all the time thats what i do, but i agree that conoeing is good see people frequently

crappiechuck -> RE: french creek (5/2/2008 6:17:01 PM)

Fishing Franklin??? Try trolling an old beer bottle. Iron City with the 78 steelers on it works best. Try jigging around some of the tires on the houses.

Not certain why "some people" call the Franklin area the hillbilly zone but I'd consider the source.

Sorry, I should have checked.  Now Utica, where my camp is located, there are some real interesting people there.

Best make out line: Nice tooth!

Bismuth Boy -> RE: french creek (5/3/2008 8:08:51 AM)

Utica; where the tooth/tattoo ratio is very, very narrow!

justinl8688 -> RE: french creek (5/3/2008 9:35:01 AM)

Anyone know if there is a bait shop near by? #?

kayak99 -> RE: french creek (5/3/2008 9:41:08 AM)

There is one on Georgetown Road about a mile from Rt 62 on the right.  A woman owns it and it's named "Bite Me Baits"!

crappiechuck -> RE: french creek (5/6/2008 1:49:57 PM)

Try fishing a place called Bare ass beach or the county farm eddy west of Sugar Creek(the village). Go out "takeiteasy" road (a real place). It has deep slow water for eyes and pike. Best on rainy days with jointed rapalas.

fryem -> RE: french creek (5/21/2008 12:49:57 PM)

I would like to try fishing french creek in the Sagertown (spelling) area. Does anyone fish this area for Smallies or walleyes? I want to take my son and his buddy and introduce them mostly to stream smallmouth is it safe for them with hipboots in this area with normal June flows?
