Well both the fishing and The Sopranos were a little dissapointing tonight.  Decent feeding action was short lived.  Caught 1 smallie on my third cast and never hooked up on two other strikes.  Talked to quite a few people and everyone had the same story...no good.

Wow...use spellcheck.

I landed 4 nice smallies Sat night...Left one of my rods on the 528 launch dock.  I'm sure it will be there when I return in a few days:)

A couple a' things... I wade fish all the time. Has anybody noticed how soft certain shorelines' gravel has suddenly become? Bear Run launch area for example. The gravel looks exactly as always, but one step could be fine and in the next your foot sinks almost as fast as it would in mud. Any idea what causes this?

Plus, for anybody who wades Old 422, be careful. About 40 yards out the bottom has developed a layer of muck that's really easy to slip on. You've gotta make sure you set your foot through it before taking the next step.

Slow, caught a walleye also. First walleye I ever caught. They don't put up much of a fight.

Second that.  Haven't caught many walleye myself, but the ones I have all were dismal fighters.

Crappy, had a great time, fishing with you guys, Timmy sure can fish.  Will do it again some time when the stripers are hitting. I thought I had one last night but ended up with a 24" catfish. Again you guys were a great Host.
Thanks Bill

Sounds like everyone got skunked friday night just like me. There were quite a few boats up and I even seen the fish commision. I think they checked a boat that was using a casting net.

Did anyone do well friday night fishing for stripers?

Just got in.  Lots of bait activity!  As much or more than I have ever seen before!  Lost a nice walleye at the boat early.  Caught a 11'' crappie on a bomber which was a first for me!  Finally hooked up with a striper at about 1:10am when all the activity had died.  Didn't measure it, but definately was not 20''.  Believe it or not, that is the first non legal striper I have ever caught there!  How is anyone else doing???

Sun. night the big boys were on a feedin frenzy, the most activity I have seen all year. I couldn't sucker any into smacking my lure though. We have caught more under 20" this year than any other year. I am only fishin it on Sat. & Sun. nights because of my work sched. I'm taking a 6 day weekend over the 4th. Timmy is fishing his 1st. tournament tomarrow night.

Crappie-
I take it that Timmy is your son???  I have a few buddies that do the Wednesday night tounaments there.  They have quit striper fishing over the last couple weeks, "practicing" for the tournaments.  I personally do not get into bass fishing.

TransAm-
Yes that is the bait shop you are thinking of.  Call them to see if they have any space left.

Real nice fish!  Have yet to catch a muskie down there.  They seem to be starting about everywhere.  A buddy mine had one cut him off while wading for stripers over the weekend.  Did he release that fish?  Looks like the gills took some abuse!

   Mick Fish,

yeah, Tim is one of my sons. I hear you about the Bass.

  Trans Am,

if they are full I'll tell Tim to get a # of a boat storage place on his way to work at Coopers Lake on Fri. It is on West Liberty Rd. between Nealey's Point & the 528 launch.

Went for the "calm" after the storm tonight (think the saying goes the other way).  The "calm" was short lived and got pretty windy around 11pm.  Managed one 23.5'' striper before the winds.  Moved out of the wind and picked up a 21'' cat on a bomber which is another 1st for me.  Lost a nice mystery fish at 12:30am as they were shutting down.  If you are planning to travel any kind of distance to fish, you may want to re-think your plans, as the fish are only "on" for about 2 hours...10:30pm to 12:30am.
