I don't know Marty, I would use your descression if you turn yours out.  My buddy was warned up at arthur last year for turning out his front lights.  From what I've encountered up there, the fish commisioners are pretty nice guys so I'm sure they'd first give you a warning even if it was illegal to turn them out.  Yeah, we were there last night.  We were the boat closest to the bridge.  I'm stripered out.  I think I'm done up there for a couple days.  May hit Herford instead the next couple nights.

I run both lights because my boat is not wired to give me a choice.  What I can't stand are the boats who run neither!!!  Nothing worse than running up on a fishing spot, only to find a "Ghost Ship" parked there!!!  One by the island last week was sitting there with no lights and the only way you could tell they were there was the sound of the beer bottles they were throwing a shore!!!  I like beer (a lot!) but "F" that!!!

If you are drifting you need both bow and anchor light on.

All vessels must show required running lights between the hours of sunset and sunrise and during periods of restricted visibility, such as fog and heavy rain. A sailboat operating under power and sail must display the proper running lights for a powerboat. Navigation lights are restricted to the colors red, green and white. No lights of any type except for the required navigation lights may be displayed. Navigation lights are designed to identify the type of boat and its situation (underway, direction of travel, at anchor, etc.) on the water. Boats underway include drifting boats. Night boaters should carry spare bulbs, fuses, batteries, and a flashlight.

Anchor Lights: All boats must display an all-around anchor light between sunset and sunrise and during periods of restricted visibility when anchored in or near a channel, and when in an anchorage not designated as a special anchorage area. In addition, Pennsylvania regulations require all boats to display an all-around anchor light when they are anchored where other vessels normally navigate. This includes all boatable Commonwealth waters. The all-around light must be one meter higher than the colored lights and be displayed where it can best be seen.

Hey Crappiefisher is there going to be an Annual Striper Event and Picnic at Arthur this year? I have always wanted to fish Arthur but never did because not sure where to start?

Smitty usually started those. If some guys wanted to have a picnic & fishin outing at my place 6/16, 6/23 or 7/7 would be ok with me. After that the night bite goes down hill.

Stuka, if you can find a spot, the best areas are probably bear run,  mcdaniels and anywhere up near the 528 launch.  There's other spots, but I'd have to get a little more in depth with the directions.  If you need more specifics, email me at mpl130@hotmail.com.  Hope this helps

        Weds. 6:00 pm.
528 launch   6/20 tru 7/18
McDaniels launch tru Aug 15th
Bear Run launch to Sept. 12th

Had a pretty good night last night.  We ended up with three stripers, one being 8 pounds and a 22 inch walleye.  I think my new favorite lure is a rapala Xrap.  I don't know what was going on, but there were fish coming up all over real close to the boat and we still couldn't get a bite on dead or alive alwives.  Not even a catfish.  I think you could catch a catfish on a booger if that was all you had on most nights.

Hey Crappy if I bring my boat up would you be willing to show me what baits to use and some good areas to fish from. I have never been on that lake not sure where to start or what is needed. Bill

We weren't so lucky last night.  Managed only 3 smallmouths and spent the majority of the evening trying to get out of the wind!

Mickfish, Do you catch a decent amount of smallmouth out of arthur?  I've only caught two, a 5.5 pounder through the ice three years ago and a 14 incher a couple nights ago.

do you ever see guys on kayaks up there, im planning on buyin one soon and wanna take it up there during the day for bass and maybe eventually at night for stripers?

also whats the best place to launch if your looking for LM and SM during the day?

theres always somebody running around in a kayak up there. ive seen people put in at the old 528 launch which immediately puts you into the muddy creek arm. there were also people launching from mcdaniels 2 or 3 saturdays ago.

ive fished arthur more this year than ive fished it in 20 years combined. dont feel like spending $120+ a trip to erie until the walleye heat up and have been looking for some different scenery than the 3 rivers. i dont do as well catching fish as i hear others do, but weve done pretty well this year. we fished it this morning and did well most of the day. there are good spots all over the lake.

i dont know much about yaks but think it would be tough to hook lights up to one to fish at night.

Startinout- I've only got them while casting at night.  Only caught one striper tonight, but it was 27'' and put up quite a fight!  Wow were there a pile of people down there! 
Commander-  What were you successful fishing for today?  Any crappies???  If so do you mind if I ask what depth you found them?  I am about ready to hang up the night fishing for a week or so and chase crappies.

As I crossed the 422 bridge, I counted 14 sets of lights there, and I'm sure there were a couple with their lights out. One would think that was the only place on the lake that you can find them.

Crack of dawn today I hit Arthur with intention of catching crappie. Going to the spot that usually produces, I noticed a couple wipers chase baitfish out of the water a couple times close to shore. They wouldn't take anything I offered. Switching to crappie jigs and all I caught was a couple gills. So I changed again to micro jigs that have been producing gills for me lately. Only caught a couple more. With all the anglers out today the only fish I saw caught was the few gills I caught. I was shocked concidering all the activity that I saw today. With all that in mind, I have a feeling tonight is going to be hot. Too bad I'm not going. Wish I was!

we fished today from 1:00-7:00 p.m.. launched at mcdaniels the last 3 trips. we've caught a total of 6 or 7 crappies this year but we dont fish for them. all have been caught on jr. thundersticks and white power grubs. we see crappies mixed in with bass and bluegill. today we didnt see as many. water temp today was 75 degrees.

saw lots of kayaks on arthur today. saw 2 with pedal power. never noticed the pedals before. pretty cool.

  Didn't see the lake today. Opps, was down last night ~til 1:30 am. I could of used a boat if I had one in my pocket.
   
Timmy & his buddy made it out on a Jon Boat late arthurrnoon till dusk. They caught a good variety of fish, but nothing special .
