Sounds like my report from last Wed.  I was too embarrassed to post after seeing Steely's...  I went straight for the pan fish, to keep my daughter, father and father in law entertained.  We hit 6-7 spots, with 2-3 dinks in each of them.  Finally found one that was "productive" (small perch biting but not landing many), but had to take off.  Besides the Spring/early Summer I am completely lost on this lake (I can't buy a crappie either!!!).  Although, I am pretty sure that I target the wrong species during their productive seasons.  I'm sure that I'll figure it out sooner or later, a lot due to the very generous advice from the locals on this board.  Moving closer to the Yough, I'm not sure if I want to give up one of the most entertaining Summer fisheries around to figure out the "Dead Sea".

I feel ya!!  It's hard to pass up being in the back yard and all.... That was the worst trip of the season for me...  Even the fishfinder was quiet most of the day...  But a slow day fishin' is better than goin' to the best Steeler game so far this year...  (yes I passed up tickets).  Smoked a couple ringers this a.m., on Country Club Rd.... MAN... alot of guys out there huntin...

Thanks Maxpower.

Was out fro 1-3 while kids at school and caught eight, same approach as the other day. Also hooked into a toothy critter that put some bend into the rod but he managed to chew right through my 8lb test quite easily. Caught a glimpse before he said goodbye. Didnt expect him at all especially fishing with soft plastics.

Does anyone know some general areas on aurthur that I can shore fish or wade tomorrow? Wanted to try out the new carrot stick and get some final bass fishing in for the year before Erie really starts up. I have never fished the lake and go to SRU, go figure? I like fishing topwater and grass or stumps if I can find them... any info would be great.

Thanks
Justin

8688 Go to the Rt 528 boat launchand drive backthe access road up to the dead end.  Some good wading there on the old road bed.  Also the next launch up on North 528 has good wading in the lily pads.

Justin,

I think the bridge from the north, think it is W Lake Rd, may still be closed.  So, don't follow the signs at the Dairy Queen, or it will likely take you an hour to get to the lake.

You are likely much better going 173 to Rt. 8, if you are going to hit that side of the lake.  528 hits Rt 8, right after 173 hits 8 where the nature conservatory is.  528 crosses the Eastern part of the lake.  Check out the lake on Google maps.  That Eastern section has some good wading spots, but the bottom is some really loose mud in some areas, so be careful.  It is probably best to wade with a partner, or go slow when you are in the water.  There were a ton of fish in the Western part of the lake about 3 weeks ago, but weren't taking anything that I was throwing (in the deep water).

Good luck,
PT

 Justin,

You should give my son Tim a call. He fishes for Grass Carp 'bout 95% ov the time. He is in Erie 'till Sun. though. He has a bass boat & is out on the water for 'em late winter 'till archery starts. His friend Justin fishes the FLW tours also. I might take a boat out tomarrow if I can get this 8 point cut & wraped tonight

Sponnie,..................

I tried fishing in the 30mph winds yesterday.  That sucked...  We found a bit of refuge, but the winds seemed to change direction as soon as we'd find something calm.  I did manage to pull out two small wipers (12" if that) and 1 14" large mouth.  Not many other bites or fish on the screen either.

Thanks DC. I would love to believe that fish was 6lbs but in all my excitement and scrambling just to get a few cell phone pics I forget I had my other vest in the car with a scale. Definitely 4+ though, no doubt about it. That fish was the perfect ending to a truly perfect fishing day!

I know its been a great day of fishing when Im tucked in my bed next to the lady but still pulling hooksets in that dreamstate right before falling fast asleep......
