Fished @ Moraine Sat. Nov 8th from about 1 pm until 5 pm. Weather was half decent although relatively windy; water temperature was 50 degrees. Launched out of 528 and fished around the bridge area. Drifted bait (shiners, fatheads, nightcrawlers) without much luck. Only managed 1 small perch there. Set up and trolled from 528 bridge up to Nealy's point-trolling a Super shad, #5 shad rap, & reef runner-zero bites and not too many fish marked on finder! Big surprise of the day came around 4:30 while fishing below point--was drifting bait and girlfriend yelled that she had a big fish on! She tussled with a large fish for about 5 minutes before bringing it to the boat. I was certain she had a big channel cat on; but boy was I surprised when she pulled a large hybrid strip bass to the boat!! We snapped a few pictures before releasing it--no official measurements but I would guess the fish was around 25 inches and a healthy 8-9 lbs. I will try to post a picture once my girlfriend sends me them! Other surprise of the day was the sighting of a bald eagle. I didn't know that there were any around here, but I clearly saw one in the area adjacent to Nealy's Point! He soared overhead and landed in a tree for a few minutes--what an awesome sight, wish I could of gotten some pics of him. Anyways, all in all not too bad of trip for November. If the weather permits I might try to keep the boat out and make one last trip up there before the ice comes...
