Just got this in my hotmail From Jeremy Rekich Thank you for your inquiry on the Aquatic Plants at Lake Arthur, Moraine State Park. We do participate in an aquatic plant lake treatment program each year. Moraine is usually scheduled for two days each season. However this season did not require as much treatment, as you have observed. We believe the cooler temperatures and earlier rainfall has kept the growth rate down this season. We mainly treat the Marina's and Swimming areas for navigation and Health Code, respectively. However, we have treated some of the smaller bays for navigational reasons as well. We also are trying to combat an invasive aquatic plant known as Hydrilla. This plant will out complete our native plant growing in floating thick impenetrable mats. Thank you again for your interest in Moraine State Park, Sincerely,Jeremy Jeremy Rekich Assistant Park Manager Moraine State Park Complex Phone: 724-368-8811 Fax: 724-368-3417 www.visitPAparks.com I thought maybe the weather had something to with the lack of growth. But wasn't sure if they sprayed!
