He is down the lake with his mom for the Wend. Bass wiegh-in. His fishin' partner for it is in N.Y. fishin the Wal*Mart FLW tour. Think his partner 16 years old fished pract. with a purdy good Pro the last couple days. A older couple saw a bear or 2 yesterday that he talked to yesterday & today. The older gent. said he never saw a bear in 60 yrs. until this year. Think the kids saw a yote on the way down this eve. near Snyders Graveyard. He'll post later since I was just catchin' a little ov what the old lady was tryin' to tell me [8\|] Crappy

Forgot the kids & old lady saw a bear late last week commin' back from the lake down the St. a little bit. Don, the new Turnpike bridge const. had the spot purdy messed up [:@] We only stayed 'till about 1 am. & the fishin' was on the slow side a few Flats & one good Channel. Think I'm fished out for awhile, but The boys have not been slowin' down. Sortta glad I didn't head to Erie with you or you would ov prob. had another chummer on board [;)] Give me a buzz when you get back. Later

Icastalot, Ya I caught 5 bass and my little brother caught 2. All were small though.NO BEARS that day! But I did see a coyote today on my way to the lake. Keep fishin (everyday), Timmy

Whoa...they just announced on the news that they verified an F-O tornado in Moraine State Park in those wicked storms last night. Makes fishing with a popper just a little tough! In all seriousness though, I hope everybody is ok.

A friend of mine said that recently there was one on the side of 528 just beyond 422 that was near the side of the road and completely unfazed by traffic. Her husband called her because he was taking a walk and when he saw it wasn't going away figured it best that he get a ride out of there!

Went up yesterday evening for a few hours, spent most of our time(2 1/2 hrs.) trolling for muskies. Missed a good fish on a Super Shad Rap and not a thing afterwards. We kept an eye out for any striper or alewive activity on the way in around 10pm and both seemed to be very slow.

Have you guys noticed that the weeds and pads are way down this years? I have been fishing Arthur a ton in the past few weeks. Most of the bays and fingers you can go far into for this time of the season? Fishing has been fair I haven't seen the top water action in the pads that Usually see and crush them worm fishing been descent.

Yeah, I noticed the deal with the plants a couple weeks ago. There's usually a lot more by this time. I was wondering if they dragged some of the lake areas or something! Oddly enough, I also found two floating lily pads that were bigger than any I've ever seen short of those big south american lily pads at Phipps. ;)

We do participate in an aquatic plant lake treatment program each year. Moraine is usually scheduled for two days each season. However this season did not require as much treatment, as you have observed. We believe the cooler temperatures and earlier rainfall has kept the growth rate down this season. We mainly treat the Marina's and Swimming areas for navigation and Health Code, respectively. However, we have treated some of the smaller bays for navigational reasons as well. We also are trying to combat an invasive aquatic plant known as Hydrilla. This plant will out complete our native plant growing in floating thick impenetrable mats. B B they will hit 24 hours a day. early mornings and later evening try shore lines.Mid morning to early evening try lilly pads, weed beds, rock piles and any kind of structure. After dark top water lures. This program works good for me and very is productive for the most part. I only use plastics,frogs and lures. I don't use live bait very often but I'm sure live bait will work just the same.

quick question about fishing in the weeds? i put my kayak in at muddy creek, try to fish the weeds and pads as much as i could, but constantly having to pull weeds off my lure got to me. i had all hits on tubes but did try other stuff in the weeds. what are some ways to rig my plastics to lessen the weed pick up, or do you guys just deal with it?

weightless texas rig works well for me. dont know if your using fluoro or not but switch to braid or mono. braid will allow for better hookset with less memory. fluoro sinks to much for me. any thoughts on this.

Rig your soft plastic Texas style with the hook exposed a little bit. Then, stretch the soft plastic bait upwards and let the tip of the hook barely penetrate the plastic once you unstretch the bait. It keeps the hook covered and when a bass takes a bite at it, the plastic rips and the hook becomes exposed. The weightless Texas rig is definitely the way to go. Just be sure to check your plastic frequently and make sure you keep the hook buried. I always change out after a catch or a good number of casts so make sure you have enough of your favorite soft plastics... Sack

Justin, sorry I missed your post about Pike. The kids lost a few more lures to 'em while bassin' yesterday. The one that I saw steal Timmys lure the other day was prob. over 40" I'll do most of mine while waterfowl huntin', don't get any better for me when havein' the shotgun & rod on board together plus the lake to myself. It's gonna cool down for a few days for this time of year so it should be gettin purdy good. I can make it out most any time so lEtT/Mea;kNo Marty, u got twice as many posts on this board than sales on e-bay. Kimberly could ov sold your wetsuits purdy easy. Think they would keep me warm for a underlayer while in the swamps??? You're gonna miss her. Your friend Crappy
