I agree with Marinaro to a certain extent. I believe when it comes to light colored mayflies such as sulpurs and cahills, color is important. With darker mayflies like bwo's and slate drakes, color is a little less important as it seems to be harder to differentiate color shades in darker colors. I seem to be able to get away with a #18 adams during the baetis hatch, but know a #18 sulphur wouldn't do the trick. Didn't Marinaro say the order of importance is "presentation, presentation, presentation, size, color." I definitley agree with that statement.
