Some people are just selfish & stupid. lol

This weekend is no good for me.

2 Dates to choose from- May 17th or May 24th. Little J....I've gotta see this Sulpher hatch!

I can do either date. The Drake is gonna be our host & sucker guide  I guess about where to fish. He can take the reins.

Gentlemen,
Stopped by Delgrossos' Park today and they are all full for July (+).  But there may be openings for May.  There is lots of public parking in Tyrone; wish I could be there.   But I have Dr. appointments every Friday all month soo....!  Good luck and enjoy.

Sunday will be better for me as well.  I could still probably make it for Saturday if need be, but I might be in the doghouse for a few days.

So not this sunday but the next? Where are we meeting?

Lets keep this rather simple on the food. I believe we over did it at the big outing. We had more food then people could eat by far.

Ill bring a big pack of hotdogs and buns. Also Ill bring my mini propane grill.

Little J? Fish from whenever till the Sulphers stop.
Get there, have some lunch, fish & snack. Fish Sulphers.
Sounds fun.

I knew that Sal,  I meant where on J.   I guess it depends on how many people show up.  There are plenty of places to spread out.  Some better than others in terms of water.  Sulphers are far from sporadic so no matter where we go, they're be bugs.

I guess my question of "where", is probably premature.  We should maybe wait, let the hatch develop, and let conditions dictate location.

I'm going to head down to do some nymphing tonight, if anyone wants to join.  A little bit of short notice here but if we get the rain predicted, the river won't fish for a week or so anyway.   The school is a good place to nymph in higher water.  The river is at 435 now.

Looking forward to meeting a few fellas!

Indy -- would like to see you make it, maybe I'll try to run up if you have a one fly.  Admittedly, it's difficult to get me out of a treestand in October/November though!!

Kype,

How did you do on the J tonight?

I fished Spring Creek earlier this afternoon for 2 hours and didn't do that well.  I only got 4 total, all but one on a copper john, also there were no signs of a hatch to be found.  I did manage to lose a nice brown probably around 18", at least I know he will be there next time.

I have to agree that it we get much more rain the J won't fish well for a while.  Hopefully once we get this rain tomorrow/friday we get a dry spell to let the river recede to a decent level by next weekend.

Have you seen any sulphurs on spring creek yet? I fished it a week ago. I looked for sulphur nymphs on the rocks, but found very few. I wonder how the hatch will be on spring this year.

gentlemen,
I know I'm beating a dead horse here but I will say it again.  If you fish the J, especially between Bellwood and Pemberton try going BIG and Deep.  The hatches are neat and all but I've personally never caught anything much over 12 inches on a dry.  However big streamers and crawfish pattens fished deep and slow in the holes usually results in at last one wow!.  If you were at the Oil City gathering and saw the big minnow imitation Jeremy tied for me I weighted it and fished right below Ironville and caught 2 nice fish in about 1/2 hour before my back gave out.   Hope you have fun with the sulphers.  And good luck.

The Little J is running over 4 feet right now, and climbing. About 2.75 feet is pretty wadable.

Its supposed to rain all week also. Spring was even up when I was down there at lunch.

We might have to either move the date or go to a lake or something. Just hang out, bs and fish with whatever.

Anyone care to share their Little J sulfur dun recipe?  Up until lat year I have been using the standard pattern, dun tail, pale yellow dubbing, and cream or light dun hackle.  They have definatly worked well for me but, I stopped in Alan's shop last year and bought a handful of his patterns, they were outfishing the standard patterns about 2-1.  The problem is I lost all of them from last year and can't remember all the specifics; I know he used a more orangish dubbing but, I cant remember what the hackle and tail were either.

Any help refreshing my memory here would be great, espically you Drake.
