So Spring has sprung fellas. Let's get a day planned where we can fish & have some fellowship. I'm off for a while, so about any time is good for me now.
I'll let you guys handle the details of stream selection & all that, because I've never fished most of them.

I would have to go with spring creek. At least then we have access to lots of parking, picnic tables and wont make anyone mad.

How about, third weekend in May. That should put us into cicadas and sulphurs.

I say make it on the little J. The sulpurs should be really heavy then, and theres more than enough room to spread out while we fish.

yeah Jerm.  There's more streams in central PA than spring creek.

I will be moving that weekend, so I'm out!!

...and I agree, the J's sulphers should be cookin' then.

Hey, if you know of a large gathering spot on the J im all for it. I dont care where the hell we fish. Ill fish for any species... anywhere! How about a bass trip, or.... we could wait till june and just have a big cookout at raystown. At least you can drink beer there!

You taking us to a secret spot? You know how busy that creek is for the sulphur hatch.

Well,   We could all form a conga line down through "Da Beeves" place and show his customers what it's like to fish the Walnut projects on a Saturday morning in October.   Yeah,  Yeah, that's the ticket, , ,  and I'll bring my girlfriend  - Morgan Fairchild!
Actually there is plenty of parking at the church, in Spruce; at the junkyard, by Pemberton; by the silver bridge, 4W/D only (above Pemberton); at the foot of Birmingham hill; in Ironsville; at the old sewer plant below Tyrone; in Tyrone on any street;  along the tracks leading to Thomastown; at the exit ramp at Grazierville; and in the lot at DelGrossos' park. Heck if we could decide on a different day I could probably arrange with the Park to provide some kind of activities for the "families" while the dads fish.
Delgrossos' Park has an excellent catering service for park visitors, plus they can arrange for a picnic pavillion for all, even if you aren't using their catering service.  Might be nice for the dads to be able to take mom and the "ruggias rattuses" to the park while they fish.
Even if I can't attend let me know if I can help.

Count me in, the Little J sounds good to me.

As far as the beer is concerned, there is no reason you can't load up your vest with some, you just might have to leave a fly box or 2 back at the car....

You know I carry 18 boxes, for every instance possible. ;)

I was mostly concerned with a place to sit down and eat.

Jeremy,  Salmo,
If you wouild like to make it a family affair. I would really suggest Delgrossos' once a date is agreed upon.  They have  covered picnic areas, the food is freeking fantistic, and the people are way nice.  Plus it is right beside the little J at tipton. Easy drives both upstream and down.  Tyrone has the reservoir park but it is about 3 miles from the river and there is no food vendor.  Be advised that the J has many Big River characteristics and sometimes fish can be hard to find in the upper reaches.  They're there but just hard to find.
But IF I could make the Loooonnnnggg drive I'm open to fish anywhere.  The Big Bald Eagle from Port to Milesburg is an option.  Isn't there a picnic area in Julian or Unionville?   I think it is owned by a fire dept, or a church.  Could be municipal?  And there is always the Port Matilda sportsmens club area.

I personally would rather fish the Little J, like stated above plenty of sulfurs and plenty of elbow room.

Are you guys planning on having a picnic with the family or are you planning on fishing?  I really don't think it is a big deal if we don't have a pavillion, grill, benches, restrooms, playground, ect..  But hey thats just me, I am more interested in the fishing aspect of things.

I think a cooler full of beer and hoagies will be all that is necessary.  I have no problem sitting in a parking lot for our lunch/dinner break.

It does get somewhat busy, but not too bad. There's so much water to fish it's easy to get away from the guys who fish next to their car. Plus, in the evening when the sulphurs are hatching, and the spinners start falling, you could stand in the same spot for quite a while catching different fish.

I would like to come as well! I have only fished Pine Creek and the streams around my home in the poconos. Would love to fish some new water and meet some of the folks. Got a new tent to try out as well

Any weekend in May should be good for me, providing the weather and water levels cooperate somewhat.

It would be nice if everyone else could chime in on what day(s) work best for them so we can come up with a formal date ASAP.  The longer we wait, the harder it will be to get everyone together.

I can be there any day, fish whatever where ever.   I try to fish the sulphers just about everyday anyway.  Maybe not so much with gas.  But once I move, I'll be less than a mile from the J, so it'll be a backyard sorta thing.

I will make time for whenever.  Yinzers decide.

Some people are just selfish & stupid. lol

This weekend is no good for me.

2 Dates to choose from- May 17th or May 24th. Little J....I've gotta see this Sulpher hatch!

I can do either date. The Drake is gonna be our host & guide I guess about where to fish. He can take the reins.

I cant do this weekend, but any other is fine.

The sulphurs just started this weekend, and should be heavy once the streamflow goes down a little. The 17th should be good.
