I WAS THINKING ABOUT BUYING ONE TO SEE IF THEY WORK BUT JUST A LITTLE SCARED WE MIGHT GET SHOT.HOW DO THEY WORK CAN YOU CALL A BIRD IN WITH ONE LIKE A DEER WITH A GRUNT CALL OR ARE THEY JUST GOOD TO GET THEM TO SHOCK GOBBLE?

I used to carry one and it seemed like the only thing it called in was amish men..

Do you have to have a special tag for Amish men, or can you bag one with the general license?

DanesDad, Here in WMU 1A they must have at least 4 inches of  beard on one side before you can harvest them.  I think they call it Elder restrictions.

LOL!

chicken, it's been my experience that gobble tubes do sometimes work when dealing with dominant birds, you just have to be careful when you use them!

Not in my bag, no way no how.  I had a bird working over a ridge a couple of years ago (exact same spot I shot my bird this morning).  I lined up to take the shot and got ready for the incoming bird.  Something caught my eye slightly to my right.  It was a little later in the season with heavy foliage, so I did not see the green camo, but I did see the white head of the tom.  I never pulled the trigger, but I came real close to shooting a man with a gobble tube in one hand and a jake decoy under his other arm.  I don't shoot jakes and am pretty fussy as to what I kill.  However, another hunter not as choosy... this could have been disastrous.  This one scared me and now I don't give people any excuse to touch pellets off in my direction.

Yeah, that ruined hunting, in my opinion.  Sometimes you just get a fleeting glimpse, and you dont have time to count beard length.
