Anybody been up to Peters recently, was just wondering??? As i'm planning a trip up soon.

Well not too bad of a day on peters yesterday, while we got no trout (surprise-surprise) we did manage some fairly decent other game fish. Myself, i managed only 3 (1 Sheephead, 1 fairly decent saugeye 'bout 13, and 1 small smallmouth) but could of had many more had i not lost at least 4, 3 of them i just guess the hook was set as good as i thought & after some many cranks they got off & the last one, which felt pretty decent took me into a submerged tree & rapped me up. My brother in law caught 4 (2 very decent smallmouth, 1 being about 14 & another being at least 12, 1 decent largemouth that was about at least 12 itself, and 1 very nice saugeye going about 14, he also got slammed & missed at least 3 other's. It was a very pleasent surprise about the size on those saugeyes & bass, very nice indeed, some of the better ones we've ever caught up at peters.

Thats prety interesting GMan. If you don't mind me asking, what part are you fishing?(Non-specific, just general area). I've been between GillHall rd. and the tunnel, and haven't gotten a nibble lately. I see big carp that want nothing to do with what I have to offer, and thats about it. Went speculating upstream in the creek and got a few surprisingly large chubs, and of all things, a bluegill.

I keep thinking that I should head down further toward the other side of 51.

If your lookin for bass, i have heard that the other side of rt.51 is the place, now i have found some really nice holes right underneath bridge that crosses 51 (real nice deep hole there,actually 2) & i caught 1 of the biggest bass i've ever caught in peters outta that hole, there are quite a few other holes down from the bridge area. You'll have to park in the parking lot area & do some exploring, but they are there.

Just wanted to let you know that Tri-Community Anglers is having a Peters Creek Clean-up next Saturday September 13th at 9:00 AM. Meet at the Iron Bridge. Some of you have helped in the past. Thanks for that and hope to see you on Saturday. Pete, there are a number of good bass holes on the other side of Rte 51. They are all easily accessible along the Montour Trail. Real nice back there. Copperheads and mushrooms too!

Cool. I'll see you guys down there.

We were just discussing if the creek was going to be stocked again one more time before the end of the year, i "thought" they stocked it once more for the fall season???

leptodia -> RE: Peters Creek 2008 (9/9/2008 8:59:14 AM)

Last couple of years TCAA has stocked late fall. Not sure if that will happen again this year or not. Forgot to mention that TCAA's "Fishing for Kids Day" will be held on September 20 from 1-4 PM. Last year we had 150 kids attend. Looking for a good turn out this year as well.

razmatazz05 -> RE: Peters Creek 2008 (9/9/2008 2:34:54 PM)

hey leptodia, how late do you guys expect to be with the clean up?

leptodia -> RE: Peters Creek 2008 (9/9/2008 11:14:50 PM)

Usually takes us 3-4 hours to do the section from Iron Bridge to Gill Hall Rd. Another group from South Park works from Gill Hall Rd on up along Piney Fork.

Finally made it up to the creek after a long hiatus, started off pretty fast as me & my brother in law each nailed 3 fish a piece in no time (unfortunately only 1 trout,his) but it was action none the less, as we had a mixed bag of mid-sized bass, decent sized suckers, and even a decent 14-15 inch saugeye. But, as quick as it started, it slowed down after about say an hour or two, was still getting some sporadic action, but few n far. Finally tally was, for myself: 4 fish (2 decent sized suckers & 2 trout) and lost 2 more fish, my brother in law: 5 fish (2 mid-sized bass, 2 trout, and a decent saugeye). Saw quite a few anglers/cars just up in the lower stretches alone, as at least 4 diff anglers thought they had the hole that we were in only to turn away (except the last 1 as we were leaving anyways) and he was spinning as he told us he had no bait.
