My dog goes for chantarelles from about 50 yards away. The funny part is that she picked it up just by going with me, I didn't train her. I might try to teach her to get morels this year and next.

Anybody know hw to train a dog to sniff for scents? I'm thinking of just stuffing one in her chewie and then playing get the chewie to teach her.

I haven't found any of the "blode" types yet, only the dark phase. Some websites say the darker ones taste better. Anyone agree?

Has anyone tried to "re-plant" morels in another area? After reading up on the net about them, and not getting too scientific, I washed off my morels into a bucket, put all the "scraps" along with some tips into the water. Spread the wash water into the woods in the original spot, plus in some promising areas in the woods by my home. (heavy leaf piles, under my berry bushes also). Will see what happens.

I seen on the nest you can buy morel mushrooms "kits" for about $30. Anyone ever try them out?

More experimenting with posting pics. Pleas disregard if this is a screwup.
