"typical fat, lazy, cheap beer drinking, self centered, obnixous, greedy, dog beating, jobless, bums that are a typical sight unfortunatley"

Well I fit some of your sugestions! Guess I'm as bad? I haven't fished the first day of trout for years. Hopefuly I'll get out this week in the morning to catch a couple of left overs for the pan. Perhaps you should look at the person instead of making generalizations (SP) about people! Perhaps you should say someting as others have said. AND then one has to ask why were you there? I may have missed reading it, but didn't notice you saying you were there with a youngster. If I missed it or misread it, my appologizes in advancde!

Some 3 and 4 year olds just aren't ready to learn to fish. Dad should recognize that and wait til they're older to take them to certain places. I taught my daughters to cast their barbie rods in the back yard. They didn't need help by the time i took them to the lake to fish with me. They were at least 5 before i'd take them out in the boat. Even with a pfd, they were to figidty for me to be comfortable with. Nothing wrong with helping your child to catch fish as long as their interest is there.

I agree Chauncy. If your child is old enough to be interested in "fishing", if they are NEXT to you recieving guidance/help, then the goal of the special areas are being met. But, if they are off on the bank, ready to reel in a hooked fish, with no interest in the "fishing" that came before, then it has not. The guys "taking advantage" of these areas are pretty obvious, as most are not bright enough to hide it well. I really don't care if you catch, and keep every fish in the creek as long as you follow the rules.

Kid's area, how appropriate, considering you two are acting like two giant kids.

I observe a clear violation, I am attacked and you think I am acting as a child?  Nice.

No wonder so many people have left this site over the years!

Not commenting on the initial post, I agree with you on that, I'm commmenting on the childish bickering between two board members, you take a look back at the posts between you and Mark and you tell me why people have "left the site over the years".

Doesn't take much to take the highroad and ignore someone, then again, maybe it does.

I think if the kid is showing interest in it great.  If the kid is running around and not close to you then it is a different story.  I my son fishes a few childerns areas.  Do you know what it takes to fish with a 5 year old.  Try tying a hook while he holds the rod.  Not easy so I will hold it myself.  I am wrong then.  Try letting a little one pull a snag out.  i will take the rod and try to get it out.  If you see me do this it looks like I am fishing.  Am I wrong.  Try to untangle the line with him holding the rod.  Again I will hold it to untangle it.  It then looks like I am fishing.  My point is it just takes alot to fish with a little one.  It is not like you and me fishing by ourselves.

I think the Childrens areas are a great Idea. The target age group is 3-8 years of age for this area. Gives parents a place to take kids this age to fish without disturbing the serious anglers. If your child needs to have help with casting setting the hook and such this is the place to be and to learn and if all they only reel in the fish then this will intregue them to learn to cast and set the hook.

Maybe this will put this to rest.  I heard about this last night and a WCO was contacted and handled the situation during the kids fishing derby.
