MICK FISH -> Lake Latonka (4/16/2008 12:15:03 AM)

Anyone get the chance to fish Latonka ever?  I occasionally get an invite from a buddy of mine who bought some property up there as an "investment".  I think it was more about the fishing though!  What a great time I have had there!  Jumbo perch by the dozens, slab blues, and even a nice walleye this winter on the ice!  Oh yeah, some nice largemouth too, if your into that sort of thing[;)]! Hit the crappie pretty hard under the docks this past fall, but can't seem to find them on the ice.  Will be up there Friday morning chasing some crappies, and can't wait!

A couple guys i trout fished with, a couple years ago, were telling me about the huge perch there. Said if i ever got the chance to fish it, i'd be hooked. Hope you have a great time and show us some of those jumbo's.

i lived in lake latonka, they used to stock it with bass & walleye.
big crappies and perch abound.
use a white mr. twister and you may catch anything. a floating and sinking pearch rapala works great also.
if you want anymore info on the lake pm. me. ~dt

i grew up around the area. nobody would think about fishing there, too many septic systems for that small lake. did they get sewers? this was back in the mid 80's.  >matt

I too have heard about septics running into the lake in the past.  Hope they got that taken care of because I have been eating a pile of perch meat from that lake over the past couple years!

all the newer houses, for the past few years,  have to have sand mounds now and tanks. the lake is monitored regularly from what i understood. i ate plenty of crappies out of the lake. i doubt very much the high priced people who live thier will dump sewage in the lake for fear of getting sued big time.
i'de be more affraid eating fish coming out of cool spring then the lake! ~dt

We went to sewers in 2002, so there isn't anymore discharge into the lake from bad septics.  The only thing is you can't fish the lake unless you are accompanied by a member.  They are really enforcing this now.  I fish it now and then but plan on hitting hard this year.
