Anyone fish Canonsburg lake alot? I checked it out today. thinking about taking my boat out this week. While i was at the ramp it looked like to me that there was a large rock sticking out of the water about 50 yards off shore from the ramp. Was i seeing things or has anyone else seen this rock?

Yeah, I know the rock that you are talking about. Depending on what kind of boat you have, I would be hesitant to take it on Canonsburg. Just be very VERY careful. Instead, I just take my canoe out and row from place to place. Works fine for me.

Is the lake very shallow? Is there more shallow rocks away from shore? i have a 21 ft Lund. I dont want to screw it up if i can help it. Thanks for the reply

From PA boating

you'd have to do a heck of a lot of rowing with a 21' boat.

Thanks for the info fruntz. I know about the regs. I have a 24 volt 84 lb thrust minkota on the front. It will get me anywhere i need to go . I was just worried about damageing the boat on shallow submersed rocks.

How limited are you when fishing from shore?  It looks like a good part of the lake is along private property.

joedirt,

We used to fish an 18' bass boat with a 48lb thrust motor so you'll not have problems. Be more worried about beaching in mud than hitting rocks.

Thanks
Rick

I'm wondering this too. It says the comission owns the lake property but on northwest side near the dam some of the houses look pretty close to the water and I'm wondering if thats private property. Is the entire perimeter of the lake public property or is some of it private?
