It's Shawnee. Originally it meant LONG KNIFE. The Shawnee then used the word for to describe ARMY OFFICERS because of the sabers they carried. Eventually it became an epithet for WHITE MAN. All three describe me, so the moniker fits.

I have to agree with the original post.  The fish this year are half the size of the fish  in years past.  I caught 40+ trout in 3 days of fishing during the 1st 2 weeks.  This was the fist time i have ever caught a fish under the size limit!  Fished heavily stocked cannonsburg lake and little chartiers creek and only had 3 fish over 12 in.  Past years it would be 3 under 12 with the number i caught.  I vote for bigger fish.  The hell with 4.5mill.   I'd like to see more browns round the state too!

Hit a few trout streams today.  Caught nothing but creek chubs.  The PFBC should be ashamed for stocking chubs.

I dunno you people are really missing the boat.  I have caught a fish atleast 18 inches and hefty every outing since the streams got stocked.  before that I caught 4 out of numerous DHALOS well over 20.  Fish move ya know, perhaps take a walk and get away from the Filler trout???? I dunno why the complaints, i have none.

From what i been told by someone in the trout business is that there is gonna be fewer trout this year due to the problems they were having at the hatchery in North Carolina. I was told it was something due to the drought in the state. How true that is I don't know. But i have caught a mixed bag of trout this year. Anywhere from 8" to 20" but alot in the 10" range. Would like to see more kids areas through out the state. I took my kids to the one at Virgin Run last year and they had a ball and now they are hooked.

Dream Catcher,
2 palominos in the 10-12lb range?  Are you serious?  The state record is 11lb 10oz from erie in 1986. You are telling us they are stocking record caliber fish.  I don't think so.  But anyway we were tired of the MONSTER state fish as were most of you responding.  So 5 of us got together and bought $250 of 12-20 inch fish (approximately 50 fish) and stocked them in a well known public hole.  The first day I saw about 35 of the ones we stocked caught and maybe 15 state fish.  I know not everyone can afford to do that or they don't want to see other people catching THEIR fish.  But man it took me back 25 years or so when I was a kid and it seemed like everybody caught their limit of "8".

Mr. Bozo ; see someone else witnessed the same 12 lb fish . I took the below caption from another topic . I guess they did put in more than one big fish. As for what everyone else is seeing . I do agree the majority of the stockings have not been averaging 11" fish but ; I will not complain . Each day I get to fish I am content in life ; so I am greatful that we have a "stocking program" unlike some other states .

Yeah i seen some posted about little buffalo about the size of trout that they put in their. First of all yes they did put some dam nice trout in that creek. But the sad thing is the poachers and snaggers had at them to easily, i fished that creek from the 14th until the 20th and caught alot of fish but nothing over 18 inches, But i would see the Joe blow using a rooster tail  right besides me and catch nothing i move and come back 20 mins later their he is bragging about his 12lb palie that he caught. B.S  Come on if you guys can't catch them fair and square hang your rod on the wall stay the f%$# at home. I am using a fly rod tie all my own flies and do quite well any day of the week but when i am standing their fishing for a big bow or a paile for hours throwing every fly pattern i have and not even getting a hit, and some jag off comes in a slams a big palie on a rooster tail and when i see the rooster tail buried in it's side that's B.S. I liked to Bury a rooster tail your A@@ see how it feels.

My thoughts on the subject...I only buy a trout stamp for 2 reasons:

1. Its needed for Erie steelhead
2. Its needed for me to fish for chubs in my local creek's DHALO section (they are great walleye bait)

Personally I'd rather hike into a small stream and fish for native brooks and browns any day over these swimming chunks of liver. Getting a 15"+ native brookie is a whole lot tougher than getting a 20" stockie to hit anything thrown at it
