Jonesin -> Slow Day (4/12/2008 12:51:18 PM)

Fished the mighty Loyalhanna today, down behind Latrobe Steel.  There were a ton of people there.. more than had been there in at least the last 10 years.  Sadly, 3 guys in our crew of ~15 caught a fish (myself included) and one guy got 2.. that was it in 4 hours.

Anyone else have a slow day, or was it just our bad luck?

Cheers, Bob.

Terrible ol' Turtle Creek was packed....every man an' his dog there, most with full stringers....except me of course with 3 , but they were browns. Many of the rainbows looked around 14"....saw two Palominos caught.
Can't imagine many decent size fish left....new hordes were arriving as I left.

Fished the upper lake at Twin Lakes. I caught 14 and my son caught 13. We missed or lost more than that. A few people were doing great, but a lot had a harder time. A nice day to be out.

If anyone wants them Big Sandy is full of trout, must have been muddy this morning but we stopped there this afternoon fron 2 pm to 5pm caught at least 35 on cheese eggs with a few maggots on the hook.  Water was just the right color you could barely see the bottom in 3'.

Jonesin,

Seems like the Loyalhanna was slow overall today, although its stocked tributaries produced VERY well.  Give it another two weeks or so for the water temp to come up, and it will fish better.

I fished the Hanna from 8:15 to 1:00 and only landed three. Saw very few fish caught but I did manage to catch a few nice small mouth. By 11:30am I had over a thousand yards of stream to myself.....kinda tells you something. Stopped at Jacobs Creek near Mt. Pleasant on the way home and watched several guys hammer them.

Dunlap Creek Lake was slower then usual today at least the side we were fishing, out of 10 guys,  we caught 7 fish noone caught more then 1 and I actually tied for the largest fish kitty with a tiny 10.5 inch rainbow .....all-around slow day, wish I had tommorrow free...has to be lot of fish left

Laurel Hill Creek was as crowded as I've seen it in the last ten years.  I caught 5 total, in two different parts of the creek.  People were catching fish, but not banging them out.  I remember times you'd see guys walking away from the holes with full stringers at 10:00 in the morning, but I didn't see any of that today.  Seems like you had to work for em today.  Jones Mill Run (the upper end where they dont stock) was like it usually is: full of sub legal but eager brookies and completely overlooked by other fishermen-but not by me!  The fishing wasn't real fast today, but the day was nice and a lot of people seemed to be having fun.

mugz -> RE: Slow Day (4/13/2008 2:35:46 AM)

fished the little beaver river (lawrence county end) and landed 43 which included a 19 1/2" rainbow and 3 rainbows that measured 14"-15" each ALL on trout magnets!!!!!

a simple solution to some of you that are having bad days, stay on the move up and down the creek don't stay in one spot all day.
