bigbear9791 -> susquehanna cats (4/10/2008 9:10:40 AM)

the cat action down here is starting to get very good
the river is alittle high but just about at the perfect level for cats below harrisburg
mainly catching flat heads on worms or crayfish right now
the channel cat action has dropped dramaticlly in the last couple years since we started seeing the flat heads.......good news on them though is that they are getting to be over 2 feet for an average, and that is fun :)

When did flatheads start on the scene ? I fished from 3 mile is. to Columbia for years & only got channels.

i've been catching them at the south end of TMI for three years now
they are growing fast and i think they may be eating all the small channel cats, because i haven't caught a small channel in two years now

there was an article in outdoor news about flt heads out there last year!

bigbear9791 -> RE: susquehanna cats (4/29/2008 2:59:04 PM)

the flat heads have grown
they are averaging around 10 lbs now, with some nice ones thrown in
even got one on the pin set up last night

Watermellon seeds are the best bait for cats.

i had some salmon that got freezer burn, so i cut it up for cut bait, they loved it

Stone cats work well down there.

bigbear9791 -> RE: susquehanna cats (5/27/2008 3:21:46 PM)

yes the do
crayfish still seem to be the best in my area

bigbear9791 -> RE: susquehanna cats (6/11/2008 10:43:14 AM)

cat action is still hot down here
getting both flat heads and channels....and the occasional walleye, muskie, smallmouth, havn't hooked a carp yet this year?
weird
crayfish are still the hot bait, but cut baits and worms are working well too...even the left over shrimp from dinner the other night
lol

Ill be heading that way in a few weeks somewhere around duncannon ill start.  Fished the river from new cumberland to selinsgrove and found that new cumberland was the best action for smallies unreal.

hey Bigbear, try live lining some live Bluegill 6 inches or bigger, if there are large Flatheads around this will catch them...

pxatim -> RE: susquehanna cats (6/28/2008 10:52:12 PM)
