PS: Slimey, dripping cheesesteaks, do NOT constitute dinner. The Freeport, is both good food, and reasonable though.

Status: offline 		I'll be at the game on Friday night, we sit in Section E 28 or something like that, but we're up too high to make a sign and get on TV, plus I doubt they'd allow any sign I made on TV...

I'll help you out.  I really, really, really do not like Crosby, and starting to not like Malkin, and its not because of their hockey talent.   Deep down inside, and I have said this before, I am indifferent to the Pens with the exception of Crosby and Malkin.  But if it makes you feel better to think I am a closet pens fan, go right ahead. 
Anyway, I think this should be a fun bet, and I am more than willing to embarass myself on this thread.  It wont be the first time!

Just one question, I know I have to wear the shirt of your choice.  Do I have to wear pants in the picture?

After the Pens games Sunday.I don't think she can take another week of this,for her sake I hope the Flyers win in four.Am planning an intervention after the playoffs are over and don't want to go to the hospital if a game is going to be on.



Then again if the drinking quits,it may turn into............

So, Penguins are a much more talented team, I give flyers credit. They've played great.
Thier stupidity will cost them in the long run, dumb penaltys by hatcher and downie and cote will hurt ya. They can't resist trying to hurt us. And we'll make em play on the PP.

ESPN adds Cherry to beef up NHL playoff coverage WILLIAM HOUSTON
From Tuesday's Globe and Mail

May 6, 2008 at 7:57 AM EDT


Don Cherry is taking his commentary and wardrobe south of the border, where he will make regular appearances on ESPN during the NHL's Eastern Conference final.
"I guess they like my jackets," the Hockey Night in Canada personality said yesterday.


Cherry and Hockey Night host Ron MacLean will leave the CBC's Toronto studio for the road to cover the Philadelphia Flyers-Pittsburgh Penguins series, which will start on Friday.


Cherry will do live hits by remote for ESPN's SportsCentre at the end of each Flyers-Penguins game.


"When I'm finished with the wrap-up on Hockey Night, I'll do the ESPN spot," Cherry said. "Sherali [Najak, the executive producer of Hockey Night ] will help set it up for me."


Cherry has plenty of critics, but ESPN's move to hire the Canadian-based commentator speaks to his popularity and profile among NHL fans on both sides of the border.


"We're thrilled," said Mark Gross, ESPN's senior vice-president of studio production. "He's a great personality and being able to incorporate him into our hockey coverage is a nice addition."


The U.S. sports channel also plans to use Cherry during the Stanley Cup final.


Adding Cherry to beef up ESPN's playoff coverage will restart speculation about ESPN2 returning as a carrier of NHL games next season. Gross said that decision will be made at a management level above his.


In the conference finals, Cherry picks the Penguins over the Flyers and the Detroit Red Wings to defeat the Dallas Stars.

Status: offline 		Don Cherry is a very abrasive personallity.  Does he know hockey?  Sure, but his North American player bias is down right ignorant.  I personally think he's hysterical and his coats are awesome, he is however very polarizing and for a country that doesn't really embrace hockey outside of markets that have a team, I'm not sure mainstreaming Cherry is the most effective way to draw fans in. 

So you can save your ignorant bandwagon fan comment, it's pretty unfounded and completely wrong.  Maybe you should take all that pent up aggression caused by the pitiful excuse for a hockey team in Buffalo and worry about them. 

He does have a serious man-crush on the Staal family though, kinda creepy...

Status: offline 		There was an interview with Colby in the Trib today, good stuff.  The comment about Crosby is gold.  While he wasn't the most talented player on the team, it was impossible not to like him.  His personality was off the charts.  not to mention that commercial...  Worst ever, but that's what made it great!

Status: online 		I don't know how Cherry will play, here in the states. It would seem, that guys like himself, Madden, Cosell, and ( Cope, and Lange on a local level ) have been so successful for a reason. For the casual fan, their unique personality brings entertainment, and a sense of excitement beyond the game itself. Annoying as it might be to true fans, for the sport to thrive, it needs those casual fans. It takes someone who can bring excitement ( for US it's already there ), to folks who see alot of action, but also SEE it as chaos. It is hard to give a simple uderstanding of the nuances, to folks who have had little exposure to the game. Most folks have had oppotunity to actually play baseball, basketball, and even football ( flag at least ), in PE, or on the playground. So they have a basic understanding of how they are played, and of those nuances. This is not true for hockey as a rule.

Hockey is in a tough spot. It needs greater exposure to get the audience. But those who can provide that exposure, require the audience before they give it.

Don Cherry is a side show freak. That's why ESPN wants him.

Status: offline 		Don Cherry is great,like a crazy old grandfather that makes sense most of the time except it comes out wrong most of the time.Polarizing?Yes.But he is way better than some of the boring announcers/analysts(Pierre McGuire,Engblom,Steigerwald and Errey,etc).You have to like how he is honest in saying he doesn't like how a player acted or played.Not sure if a true fan should like him or not,who is qualified to say someone else is a true fan.As for his dislike of anything other than North American hockey,it's his opinion and that's what he gets paid for.Also,he is giving all his pay from ESPN in the playoffs to the Humane Society.He should keep more people watching during breaks and after the games.
