Fished the north end bays today for about 4 hours, black jack, red cross and didn't get anything.  Didn't look like anyone was doing any good.  Lake levels seem to be way up.

Stewart's bay was FULL of boats on Sunday pm.  I don't think you could have squeezed another one in there.  Guess that's where the crappies are stacked up.

Vertical jigged the PA bridge that evening and got some really nice perch between the 3 of us on Vibe-Es, Sonars, Swedish Pimples, Northland rattle spoons, and a couple on sidewinders.  We got 1 18 1/2" eye and saw 2 others get caught that were both low 20s.  Seems to be an early am and late pm bite.

I brought home 31 slabs Monday, all over 10 inches, threw back probably 30-40. Only saw 2 other boats, none where I was fishing.

Storm:

Great to hear from you.  Keep the good posts coming especially when you get out to the big lake.

By the way watch fishing the causway the locals will throw there  line on top of u when your trying to boat off the bridge. i think they should make a law no fishing off the bridges when boats are down there.  I f anything give the boater the right of way.

Was out last night. Caught about 20 crappies in 2 hours, but still alot of throwbacks. Only ended up keeping about 8 though. Keepers were nice fish, 11-12 1/2 inches.

Since the ice came off i've seen ALOT of what i think are dead shad floating around and lying on the banks. I've seen this not only at pymatuning, but also at wilhelm.  Wonderd what causes this, and if it is normal.  Just got into fishing a few years ago, but i don't remember seeing this many dead fish lying around in the spring.

i don't think they are an issue.  shad are fragile and are real vulnerable to weather changes.  have been seeing this happen for years.

Most of those are Alewife.

Seems to happen every winter and only to the mature ones.
