Gentlemen,
Does anybody know of a good motel that is in the Oil City area?  I was thinking of going to Erie first but that is about 200 extra miles for me and with gas costing what it does that's about 70 bucks each way.  Still might hit Erie but then again I might slip down to Central PA and hit the J, Spring Creek and both the Bald Eagles and make a painfull week of it.  Anybody up for a ROAD TRIP?

The bald eagle, spring and the J are rip roaring rivers right now.

If we dont get more rain they should fish in a day or two.

Anyone know if you can bring dogs? We're getting our new pup Wednesday and my old lady is paranoid about leaving him at home in the outside kennel. If not, I may be flying solo.

Jeremy,
Any hint on what the creks in Central are going to be like come next Mon-Wed?  At the price of gas I'd really hate to make THAT extra trip from Oil City and then back to KY.

The creeks in NWPA are low and gin clear right now.  We are supposed to get a little rain over the next few days, but it does not look like a big rain event at this point.

Rain Predicted Thursday thru Monday.  It doesn't look all that good to be perfectly frank.  There are a lot of small streams that will hold up well to the rain.  Probably no need to drive very far from Oil City to find a few.

Dave, Don, Sorry you guys can't make it.
Jeremy, Dogs are allowed. No problem there.
The crick came down a foot already since the rain and should be fine by the weekend. Unless we get a lot more rain.
Grannom caddis are probably over on the lower river. They were a bit early this year so we might be in between hatches.

I can put you on some streams that will fish regardless. Unless we get a freaking tidal wave, they pretty much always fish. We can talk Sunday.

I believe Egg Sac used an electric deep fryer last year.  Coulda been propane, but I don't think so.

egg sac, looks like the morning will be too chilly to ride the bike so i'll most likely take the van. will we need a table to put food on? i got a good folding table for food if needed.
a freind went out to oil creek yesterday and left me a msge. towards evening either march browns or some kind of drakes were coming off. i'll know more later tonight when i call him.

doubletaper, there are plenty of picnic tables, for our use, under the pavilion where we meet.

Mika,
Yes I have quite a few.  But! ! ! Which ferrule? On what rod?   Ferrules were, and are, not univesal.  They have to be matched to each other in a set to be really good.  When I get there I'll look at your rod and see what I can do.  If it's the Rapidan, it is probably the male ferrule on the mid.  I'll bring some with me.  And some glue.  What would be best would be to have a whole new set put on the rod. But unless I can find an exact match there goes the originality.

Guys, it pains me to say, literally, I won't be making the outing this year.  I'm nursing a bad kidney stone right now.  Have fun anyway.

Just kidding!  I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.  Get well soon.  There's a bunch of trout that need their lips pierced.

Thanks skip..the rain is just about wrapping up from what I can tell on the radar and luckily most of the big thunderstorms have missed us....so we should be in the clear.  Usually I wouldn't ask, but my dad is coming up from Maryland to go with me so I was trying to let him know how it looks.  Actually, tomorrow seem like it will be really nice...cool and sunny...
