That caddis hatch is amazing, i ran into a midge hatch like that the other day, you couldnt even breathe or you were eating them.

Id like to see an outing on a C&R stream, maybe Ill have to organize a SC one.

Ill figure out some way to make it. Count me in for pasta salad. I more then likely will have the lady with me, she likes to fly fish too. Dont ask her to cook though, shes not good with anything that doesnt have precise directions.

Being a total newbie to fishing Oil creek, what flies would you recommend?  From what I have read, it seems like there is a pretty good tan caddis hatch.  As such, would you recommend tan caddis pupae, nymphs, soft hackles, dries, all of the above....????  I would like to get a jump and start tying a few flies.  Of course, I could bring a nice selection of glo bugs, sucker spawn, tube flies, streamers, and nymphs....  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I could bring a veggie and dip platter.   Do you need any beverages????  If so, I could bring some soda or ice tea or sugary flavored colored water...

bughawk & jlh, if the waters clear and sunny out bring 7x tippet if you plan on fishing dries. the trout in the dlh are pretty finicky. the other guys can tell you the specific flies to take, i never fished it around the first of may.    ~dt

I never fish 7x... dont even carry it anymore.

Ill have all the flies I always carry, ill figure out something they want. Dries only appeal to me when the fish are rising in masses.

I'll be there May 4th.  I'll bring pop and water.  Sorry, no alcoholic beverages are permitted by law (State Park).

Here are two maps of Oil Creek State Park:

Once you go across bridge at start of delayed harvest area in petrolium center keep going straight to end of parkintg lot we usualy use last pravilan. If you arive before eating time( and you should for some fishing time)just park and go fish. I know most of the regulars and usualy start rounding everyone up for eats .My girlfriend has done alot of the cooking these past few years and is a great help.. Just make sure you bring a desire to chow down and catch fish.

Ahh...Egg.  What's an Oil Creek outing without egg's famous wings.  One of the only reasons I like to show up....and of course fishing with some great guys as always.  Hope mother nature provides a carbon copy of last years outing.

Egg, put me down for brownies again.
