Status: offline 		I hate to keep harping on this but, one more thing Shawnee offered that alot,, maybe most of the lakes in this area did not was alot of shorefishing area,,before we had our boats that is all we did of course, and now for people without one thats gone from there as well.

Status: offline 		Nothing new there yet. If they would drain it some and dredge it and plant new vegetation it would be fine. Also maybe some rock or habitat wouldn't hurt either.

Status: offline 		Well its at least been really bad for about the last 5 years, in 1999-2001 there was quite the Pike explosion there and the bass fishing was very good. It just seemed like when the weeds were gone so were the pike and the bass. Then came the brown smelly water and the overpopulation of carp and tiny bullheads.

Status: offline 		According to the Johnstown paper they are thinking about the gizzard shad as a possible problem. Draining it or any other work doesn't seem to be in the future either. They plan to trap net for panfish and night shock the shorelines for bass.

Status: offline 		I think theres a few key factors that add to the whole problem there. MY biggest is not much cover for fish and no vegetation at all. Fixing these problems would start the process back to cleaner water. The bottom is all mud simply because when they dredged it last time they didn't plant anything and filled it back fast. The sun can't penetrate through the mud to start plant life again so it will stay mud until something is done. The lack of which has killed many fish including bass,pike,carp and so on. Now the reason for so many carp are the natural predators that eat the majority of the baby carp are gone so more carp live instead of being eaten. I was fishing for carp and they do actually look healthier this year and the bullheads were a little large than last as well but the main problem is the mud once the wind and rain comes stays stirred up because no vegetation holds it down so it remains a loose mud on the bottom. They should have been worrying about this over winter and not when the prime season hits. Like said above I doubt they care much.

Status: offline 		From what I've heard from some guys camping here and fishing the Juniata,,the lake is getting worse every week. Now there are dead bluegill, crappie, and perch laying around the bank. Whats left to die out of the lake next?
I hope they aren't sitting on thier asses with this problem, it kills me everytime I hear one of these stories about it.

Status: offline 		I am kinda wondering if its not a farm runoff issue as well. Prime example go to the colvin boat launch and check the water near the bridge then walk past all the boats a few hundred yards away and you can see the water is much clearer there. I am sure its a lot of factors but I was amazed how different the water was down that way.

Status: offline 		Oh ya catman tried to message you but my friend fished somerset and he said the cats were biting. He caught some channels on the smaller side but got around 5 in a short period of time.

Status: offline 		The farms have always been there, unless they are draining out in a different area than years past. I wonder if it doesn't have something to do with the dredging they were doing around the breast several years ago. That timeline would be about right for when the fishing really started to drop off.
