Yeah I can't imagine why the Steelers would want Leftwich as their backup?

Yes, he's one heck of a quality quarterback against guys who won't be in the league by this time next week. I just can't believe 31 other teams didn't snatch him up as their starter before the Steelers were blessed enough to be able to luck into him.

It finally time for the regular season!  Beng a Browns fan , I'm don't know who to believe about the extent of some of the Cleveland Browns injuries; QB Anderson concussion, RB Lewis hamstring, WR Edwards cut heel, WR Josh Cribbs high ankle sprain,  safety Pool concussion and Safety Jones knee.  They host the Dallas Cowboys a week from Sunday.  I'm not sure the Browns can win.  I'll predict the Cowboys to be the victors 31-24.  The second game of the year, against  Pittsburgh is way more important to win, IMO!

I'm happy that they picked up Leftwich.  He's about as legitimate of a starter as the bottom 1/4 of teams are putting on the field at this point.  He's no Ben, but not a bad #2 guy.  If Ben goes down, the season is over though.  Especially with the line they have.  Leftwich may be able to squeak out a few wins if he is called upon.  Dixon is not ready to be #2, Batch may not be ready for a while, so for the options they had, it wasn't a bad move at all.  He is very similar to Batch as a QB, which is completely different than Ben.  It is nice knowing they have a similar guy in Dixon that may be able to take on the #2 position next year.  I can't imagine that it is an easy task for the O line to make this change, as they are very inconsistant as it is.

Mendenhall is making me worry.  I know that drop was likely a drop by about 90% of the RBs out there.  But, if their D was stripping at the ball more than they showed, he would have likely dropped a few others prior.

Hopefully Lesean McCoy is running into Mendenhall at the practice facility.  That kid is a fumble waiting to happen every time he touches the ball.  Pretty sick moves for a youngster, but is not bringing home a Heisman, and NFL draft stock lowers every time his arm swings out with the ball in it.  It's one thing to do it in the open field to make one person miss, but doing it in the middle of the field, 5 yards from the line is just dumb.

Pittsburgh should beat the Texans on Sunday.  The key match-up will be if the Steelers can contain former #1 pick, Mario Williams chipping in from either side on defense.
Who are the starting O-tackles for Pittsburgh this season?
Pittsburgh 24-19.

I don't feel real confident for the Browns versus the Cowboys this Sunday evening (4:15).
Dallas will represent the NFC, this season, in the Super Bowl IMO.  I seriously hope Cleveland is looking ahead to the Pittsburgh game in week 2.  Cowboys 34-20.

Go Browns!

Beerman, I think the Browns will get it handed to them with Dallas covering the 6 point spread and over/under less than 49. Steelers I think will win by a touchdown or more covering the spread, but not sure of the over/under of 43. That is what my money is on anyway.

The starting tackles for the Stillers are Marvel Smith and Willie Colon. I think the Steelers win easy due to the revamped offense, but they end up giving up a few sacks. The biggest question in this game is can the Steelers keep Big Ben upright? If the answer is yes the Steelers win very easily. The Texans are decent this year, but Schaub is not very mobile and the Steelers blitzes will get to him. In order for the Texans to stay with the Steelers they are going to have to put points on the board and I don't see them scoring very often, especially because they will have trouble running and be forced to pass. Final score 27-10 Steelers over the Texans.

The Browns should struggle due to the injuries, but I still think it will be close. The biggest question in this game is the Browns defensive line. Are they vastly improved or still garbage? This game should be a pretty good measuring stick. My prediction: Cowboys 21 Browns 20.

Anybody want the Patriots as the AFC representative in the Super Bowl this year?
Now we'll get to see what kind of a coach Belichick really is. Or isn't.

Hats off to Dallas for crushing the Browns yesterday!  The Cowboys are just a better team at this point in the season.  I'm hoping that Cleveland was looking ahead to this week's game versus Pittsburgh, lol!  Losing the first game to arguably the NFC Super Bowl favorite this season is not a big deal this early in the season.

Remember the Giants won the Super Bowl last season with a great defense that gave up a combined 80 points in the first two games, both loses.
