very winable game lost. Almost looked like big ben threw the game on purpose. He was doing great except them few int's and they were just plain sad tosses. We got very little pressure on manning and thats a bad thing for sure. Seems the steelers are playing there worst football at home this year bens 2 worst int games were both at home. 3 key plays got the steelers the loss ike taylor not getting the int and letting the td for the colts plus bens 2 bad int's giving the colts awsome field.

the 2 ints were terrible, the 2 tips by taylor to wayne were crazy, but you still gotta be able to score from the 1 yard line. if they cant get a yard on their home field in stiller type conditions, shame on them.

Yeah, great point. That was probably the key to the game right there.

Those tips by Taylor, would usually be considered great defensive plays.  That first one looked like he should have caught the ball, but he is a DB for a reason.  The second one, looked like a textbook tip drill.  3 defenders in the area vs. 1 receiver, usually ends up the other way.

Those picks by Ben weren't very good.  The one, was a total route read by the DB, and great play.  I'm not sure about the other one though.

I'd have to say this is the same thing as the Giant's game.  As a Stiller fan, they appeared to have won, if they wouldn't have made key mistakes.  But, if I were a Colts fan, I'd say it was what a great reciever and a good defense does...

As long as they can make it in the playoffs, they're fine.  Not a very easy path from now until then.  At the begining of the season, the Titans looked to be the easist game of this stretch.  Now it looks like the Bungles, but you can never tell with a division game.

Good call Raps

The signing of Leftwich was done strictly out of necessity. The guy stinks. He moves like he is stuck in mud and it takes him 25 minutes to release a throw. The only team he ever had any real success against was the team that now employs him.
Say a prayer that he never has to enter a game in a Steelers uniform.

The signing of Leftwich is great and who knows Batch is getting old, maybe Leftwich could be the Steelers next career backup. I am really glad they did not sign Culpepper because he would have been a cancer in the locker room and he is washed up.

Another classic quote by Raps when we first signed Lefty

Yes, he's one heck of a quality quarterback against guys who won't be in the league by this time next week. I just can't believe 31 other teams didn't snatch him up as their starter before the Steelers were blessed enough to be able to luck into him.

I'll stand by both statements Track. There is a reason the Steelers are still playing a quarterback who is not 100% and not starting your main man. They know exactly how far they will get with leadfoot Leftwich running the show. I thought I was on your block list?

Is it just me, or did it look like Santonio stopped running his route on that 2nd int.  Ben looked POd after it but not sure if he was angry at himself or Holmes.  Oh well.  Too many mistakes overall.  Always next week.

I think there was definitely confusion between the two of them as to exactly where Holmes was supposed to be or where he was heading. It looked like Ben read he was going to continue the slant route to the inside and Holmes decided to quit on the route for whatever reason.
Regardless, the onus is still on Ben as he has to see that defender so close to the area and go to his second or third read.

I noticed that play too.  There's definately some miscommunications going on between Ban and all the WRs.  But we don't know if that was a direct route, or one where the WR has discretion to find the soft spot.  If the latter, it's imperative that the WRs be on the same page as the QB.

Combine that with Ben being obviously injured, his velocity and accuracy has been horrendous for the last 6-7 games.  And you get soft toss balls that miss their mark and get picked.  His longer balls have been terrible.  The pass to Ward, should have been caught at the goal line, not the 10, with Hines standing there waiting for it, fielding it like a punt.

Oh well.

I'm pretty sure someone had hold of one of his legs on that Hines pass.  It looked horrible, so I hope that was the reason.

I've got to agree there is a reason they'd play a QB with a throwing shoulder injury over a back up.  I have a hard time casting with my shoulder, which is probably just a minor strain...  Tall Arnold looked pretty good in relief on Monday night, and pretty much won that game.  Not sure how good he would have looked this week though, especially against a team that played in his division for years.  What happened to the run yesterday too?  I thought Indy's rush defense was supposed to be suspect?

I hope so.  But his long balls have been horrible all season.

They play him because he's their guy, as long as he can go out there.  But comes a point where playing hurt hurts your team more than it helps trying to be tough guy QB.  That point is very nearly here.  It's ok when you win, and beat bad teams, but not when you start losing 2 out of 3, and the division lead.

Ben's last 10 quartrs - 1 TD, 8 Ints.

And his not practicing all week has to be affecting his timing.  Absolutely has to.

I can't argue with any of that.

I didn't realize his stats were that bad.  I think watching Pat Bostick play, makes Big Ben performances not look so bad...

On ESPN, this morning, ex-wideout Chris Carter said that interception was Holmes fault all the way.

I would agree with Carter in this instance and while Ben is not 100% he is still not playing his best football. I think overall Ben is much better than Byron, but would you rather have Roethlisberger at 60% or Leftwich at 100% that is the question people need to ask Tomlin. I think Ben should sit until he is seriously healthy, not when he tells us he is ok. With all this being said, the Colts are very lucky that Ike Taylor can't catch the ball because it would have been a blowout the other way if he could. Peyton Manning throws in triple coverage and taylor knocks the ball in the air for a touchdown. That does not happen very often and is just dumb luck. Oh well, I guess it is better to be lucky than good.

I wouldn't say the Colts aren't good.  Every team that is .500 or better in the NFL is good.  The team with the most luck wins the Superbowl!!!  That can be said about every professional sport though.

I guess that is why Ike is a DB and not a WR...butta fingers.  Troy should have run one back for a TD too.  Sure, the other guys hand was in there a little bit but 9 times out of 10, Troy makes that pick.  I think it hit both his arms and his chest..

Ben is too gun shy right now too.  Several times he had open field in front of him and could have picked up 4-8 yards or more and even a first down or too but instead, he overthrew it to receivers.  That one to Moore in the flat was horrible.  It was a 6 yd pass, over his head and the DB was 5-8 yards down the field from Moore.  Ben could have ran it and picked up good yardage and slid.  I know it is not in his nature to slide but if he would learn to do that and become Ben of old, I think we would be better off.  Opposing defenses seem to know Ben isn't going anywhere and the LBs drop off into coverage when the pocket starts to break down.  Just a couple runs of positive yardage will keep them honest and open up the middle of the field again.  Hoping for a better performance this week.

Cold temperatures, gusting wins, rain, sleet + blowing snow are what's expected in Pittsburgh Sunday afternoon and in Buffalo Monday night. Both home teams should win; Steelers over Chargers 27-17 and the Bills......to be upset by the Browns 20-6. Any other opinions?

Since I am the new Schwamm....

Pit-SD 17-10.

Browns-Bills 13-10.

Giants win by more than 7; Saints win by more than 5; Tampa wins by more than 4; Jags beat Titans!!!; Raiders lose by less to the Dolphins and beat the 10 point spread or win(yeah right); AZ-Seattle too close-no pick; GB-Bears-no pick; Broncos beat Falcons in a shootout; Colt win by more than 8 against the Texans; Eagles beat the Bungals by more than 9; Lions lose by less than 14 against the Panthers(no chance of winning though); Rams-49ers, HMMM two stinko teams-no pick; Dallas wins against Redskins.

Had enough predictions yet?

Anyone think the refs had money riding on the spread?  The officiating was one of the worst ever, minus the last play.  Then throw that on top, and I am convinced.
