If we are going to shad fish, we better organize something soon, I heard the strippers are already in the river, which means the shad are already here.

Good looking strippers sound more fun than shad.Shad should be there until may.I think im gonna go the weeken of the 6th.Let me know about the stripers. To early.F-strippers(i really mean f-strippers)

the strippers have arrived at Show n Tell, along the river, thats what I meant.  The stripers however are also in the river and on the run.  I am used to chasing the strippers, bitches never slow down for my one dollar bills.
The 6th could be possible.

Hows the fishing? May be making a trip middle of May to Devon. Will the shad still be around?

I just moved back to PA lastsummer after being out west for 12 years. I am familar with the areas from Portland upto Bushkill for Shad. From what I understand after 9/11 The Portland M.E. plant closed the park above the plant and has also closed another road. There is still one area that you can park below the plant and walk up a bit.

The shad darts are great for folks that wade and want a bit more distance with their casts. Make sure you buy a bunch! You will lose em! I used to use just regular black jigs and change the rubber tail colors when we used to fish out of a canoe. I have caught a bunch too on flies later in the season as well.

We always started getting into the shad well when the opening of trout season started. But every year is different. Depends mostly on water temp and water level how they move.

I will try and post info when I see it.

Loch

After Flyers crushing of the Caps last night I'm off to try Hudson River stripers with REEL FORCE on Friday.  Not sure they are up to Albany, but we are going to give it a try.  Got a nice 35 lber last year on the only day I fished from a boat.  Had much less luck fishing from shore at the Troy dam.  Only got school sized stripers and a few shad on darts.
My brother lives on Delaware in Morrisville, Pa (across from Trenton), but refuses to even try fishing for shad or stripers in the Delaware.  That's my hometown with plenty of access on the Pennsylvania side of the river.  He doesn't know what he is missing.

Good luck, never fished up that far.  I have fished the Delaware just North of Morrisville and have always had success.   Lots of bass, catfish etc... there is a lot to fish for in that river.

I noticed something else in the river recently when I looked at the sport's page.  I believe it said Penguins 2-0 over Rangers and their cheapshot artist Avery.  While it also showed the Flyers leading the Canadiens 2-1, although I didn't appreciate the 5 minute major taken by Hatcher when we were leading 3-0.
Can't believe my brother, who lives on the Delaware near Yardley, doesn't care to fish for herring/shad or stripers.  Let me know how you guys make out on your next shad/striper trip.

Went to the game last night.  Absolutely crazy!  My ears are still ringing.  I was not happy about the 5 min. major either.  I think the Flyers have one coming(wishful thinking).

Whats wrong with your brother?
