Already did that Bill. Got the waders out. Might as well use my trout stamp. I hope they slow the rivers down a little or i'll just fish from shore.

PRECISLEY WHAT I WAS THINKING. Although I might not go for trout prob. just get some worms and minnows and see what happens. Hope to see you down there soon. 4 gates today hope it stays like that for tommorow but a little clearer.

Ron rode by yesterday and said no one was on the ice. Lake is still high but coming down fast. This snow wont help any. Cant fish the river. Too many gates open.

Ron said the road is open now. Checked the ice and it's close to 4". But remember, they're pulling a lot of water out of there. Ice thickness will vary from foot to foot. Spud your way out and back. May come up sunday morning. Going to P.I. in the morning. Did pretty good thursday.

My daughter and I were out walking around the lake yesterday.  Seen like a half a dozen guys out from Golden Run fishing.  Didn't see any cars in the lot that I recognized so I didn't walk out.  I'm not an ice fisherman and as I've gotten older I've found that I really have no idea what "safe ice" is and because of that I'm less likely to take my chances walking out on the ice than I would have as a kid (my increacing waist line doesn't help either).  We also went down to the campground, road bed and 846.  What I'm curious about is why it seems like the only place guys ice fish is out from Golden Run and not the rest of the lake.  Ice seemed "as good" in these other areas as it did at GR to my uneducated eye.  Other than some animals there were absolutely no tracks in these other spots.  Is it that the ice is usually not as safe in these other areas or is it just that there's more fish/better fishing near Golden Run?

Alot of differant structure located there. Closer than walking to the celery farm. 846 is a hit or miss deal. You get the moving schools here.
The beach is a good spot as the ice comes off.

Barry, GR is more protected from the winds and tends to get thicker ice before the open areas. There's lots of drops and wood and a creek channel that runs thru it. I was out yesterday and the ice was 4" in one area and 10ft away was just over 2". The channel was the reason. Water moving under there is keeping the ice from forming as fast as other areas there. Fishing sucked too.

Fished golden run yesterday and came home with 41.  A couple over 13 but most were 11-12".  Spoons and maggots.  Ice was 5-6".  Will be there in the morning.

Fished golden run today.  7:30 til 2.  Kept 33.  Nice day to be out, but I don't think the ice will be able to take it.  Spoons tipped with maggots and waxies did best.  Gold and red were the 2 best colors.  There were some very nice fish caught today.

Got called back to work today so can't probably fish til the weekend.  The first 2-4 feet of shore ice has water on top of it and has caused it to break up.  The ice out farther looks ok but I am sure it is soft.  I'm sure by the weekend there will be a plank or something put down.  I think we may be ok, but we need some cold temps.  Keep them fingers crossed!!

it freezes although right off the causway it takes a lil longer sometimes from the salt falling in.  It was frozen before the thaw though
