Muddogaug -> Ice yet? (1/20/2008 5:56:28 PM)

I have tomorrow off any one know if the bay has any safe ice yet? The head should be firming up soon.

I bet the creeks are locking up though.

I doubt the lakes have much ice yet.  We need a week of weather like this, and it would be better minus the wind and snow to make good ice. Everyone is always over anxious. The main parts of lakes are probably still open from the wind. The lakes that got snow probably started to freeze in the wind blocked sections, but that ice is probably now covered with blowing snow, so the ice probably isn't going to get very thick.

I am thinking of driving up from Pittsburgh to fish Walnut Creek, near the Marina.  Anyone know if it has iced up or if there are open spots?  Your advice could save me the trip and gas or could lead me to a great day.  Appreciate the assistance.

Very little open water on lower Walnut today, by tomorrow it will probably be almost completely locked up.

Planning on making a trip to Erie next weekend.  Does it look like the creeks will be covered in ice?

Hookin Up, Was that you and your buddy I met coming out of the  Sugar Lake boat launch on Sunday. I was the scruffy in the scruffy white Toyota Pickup. Shouldn't be long now! I was going to check today but thought I would save the gas as I have to work till weekend anyway.

Hookin Up -> RE: Ice yet? (1/22/2008 8:52:23 PM)

If you mean Monday it was me. I checked Tamm. Lake today and still 3".

treesparrow -> RE: Ice yet? (1/22/2008 9:10:27 PM)

Monday Ya come to think of it! It isn't that I forget Mr King, the day off just doesn't register. I have a kindergarden class to sub in West Forest tomorrow, and might take an auger and boots and check Two Mile on the way home. I guess we are in line for another cold snap before the weekend warmup. I'd like to hear a good longer forcast with some more bighting cold, however we will get what we get. So long as it stays in the 20s at night and not over ~ 35 during the day we shouldn't lose any ice.

krott243 -> RE: Ice yet? (1/22/2008 9:10:34 PM)
