Fished sayers yesterday and had a blast. Me and my buddie got 40 keepers biggest being 13 inchs many throw backs we got over 125 crappies yesterday. Alot of guys fishing. Weather was perfect. Only problem was the little catapillars falling from the sky and coating everything with silk was a pain in the ---.When i was leaving the amish were loading in.

Hey everyone. I am new to this forum and I do a lot of fishing at Sayers dam in the summer. I went out 5/15/08 and fished for Crappie under the main bridge that crosses the lake. I pulled out around 40 but only 3 were keepers. Does anyone know a good spot to fish for carp at the dam? I had some luck last year on the bank by that high peer but I think there are better places but I just need to find them.
Its either dowdy road or dowdyhill rd they are loaded back there just below the penn dot shed on rt 150 take it to the end shallow back there one yr u can walk across them lots to be had.
Stealy Did you go in the dirt road on the turn or out past the nursery where the paved road runs into the lake? What time are you going to be there and where are you going to fish?

Thanks Stealy for the tip. I tried that spot out for a while but I didn’t have any luck. It was shallow enough that I could see the bottom and I didn’t see any carp swimming around either so it just must have been a bad day for them in that area. I ended up going back to the bank by the peer and I caught 5 on Tuesday.
Crappies a plenty a couple of weeks ago. I am not sure that I agree with the size restriction any more. That lake is overrun now with 8-87/8 in crappie. The black crappie can be caugt in great numbers but cookie cutter sizes that are sub legal. The white crappie in tha lake look anexoric! They are so long and skinny they remind me of Huntingdon county river walleye! The fishing was a good and there wer more keeper size classed fish (10 inch class) BEFORE the restriction when people would fill 5 gallon buckets every night. I hope that the fish commission might review this policy, based on their own research! Just my thoghts thogh. Me and the gang always counted on Sayers Crappies for a couple of decent "fish sammiches" from time to time. . .I miss that!
Agree 100 percent was there thurs, place is loaded with undersized fish. one trip i did well with some real nice slabs. nothing good this yr, all throw backs.
Have not even fished here this year, too many small ones and no keepers. Have talked to others I used to fish with and all agree that the fish will not grow in this lake. All of them have taken kids that I used to take so they can have have but no one is able to get more than a couple keepers in a whole day of fishing. Someone better find out why they are not growing this lake is going to be over populated in no time with no fish being taken out of it.

it might be the size limit they put on the fish. everything that is over 9" goes in the bucket smaller ones go back. doesn't take long to clean out a lake.

It needs to go back to 50 a day no size limit clean some of those smaller ones out. To bad the fish comm, cant trap net some of those and put them in other local lakes that lack crappie population. Would be a good idea.
Went to the dam today to fish for carp with the fly rod and cicada flies and I had a ball. While there the fish commission was there taking a survey on the fishing there.Asking questions about crappie sizes and limits. Also wanted to know how many days that you fish at the dam and what type of fish you target there a year.
me and the boy was up friday took some crappies. some 9and some 10 . not to many . lots of small ones. some guys where fly fishing for carp. must be fun. rain most the time but not bad. warm rain nice and slow to. had some fun .
