Float tube.... maybe... boat... no launch.

Soon.... perch spawn... big one

Some trout, some smallies a musky every now and again, catfish carp.

Fish it a good bit, prob not so much now that I have a boat.

I could carry a canoe in at the spillway for a float trip.  Anyone ever tried it?

Pamuddler -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/12/2008 1:47:36 PM)

Cab I don't know about that, at the spillway its all big rocks down to the water.
You can put in at the lower bridge that goes over March Creek, then paddle up to the spillway or into the side channel.

Im going to guess and say off, or at least not safe. The bald eagle was a raging river for a week... it dumps into the dam.

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/13/2008 12:51:43 PM)

Thanxs.

nut -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/14/2008 7:03:17 AM)

curwensville dam ice was lifted 8 feet last week, it probably is all broken up now, man that was alot of water,1.65 inches of rain plus all the snowmelt.

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/16/2008 7:16:21 PM)

Anybody try it over the weekend???

nut -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/17/2008 5:37:52 AM)

guys were limiting out on good size perch at black moshannon, i didn't fish ice is too unsafe for me.

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/17/2008 9:32:24 AM)

Great to hear.

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/21/2008 7:01:45 PM)

Anybody local been hitting it

nut -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/24/2008 6:22:59 AM)

we're trying, was to go down saturday but with 5 inches of snow. didnt want to risk the trip on 80. nothing like an accident to ruin a fishing trip. we were going to try the dowdy hole first and then move down as needed, with the backwaters as an option.

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/24/2008 12:49:42 PM)

I figure another month and the crappie bite should turn on.

nut -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/25/2008 6:40:22 AM)

can't wait, i need to catch some fish! spring is probably my favorite time to fish.

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/26/2008 1:42:42 PM)

It could stay spring all year for me. Nice weather, great fishing and cold beer, cant beat that.[:D]

nut -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/27/2008 7:17:14 AM)

we might be headed down this saturday(3-29), hope to find a mess of spawning perch.

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/27/2008 11:24:18 AM)

cabst119 -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/28/2008 6:59:35 AM)

Can you launch a boat there yet anyone ?  Is the ice all gone ?

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/29/2008 10:54:09 PM)

IM WONDERING MYSELF LIKE TO GO UP SOONE IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS

nut -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/31/2008 7:06:52 AM)

don't know about sayers, but black moshannon is 97% ice free as of 03/29/08. i'm guessing it should be boatable below the causeway, you might try calling the ranger station for info.

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (3/31/2008 12:44:56 PM)

Im hoping for the warm weather soon i was looking at hitting it around trout season opener.

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (4/7/2008 12:35:12 PM)

Anybody catching any crappie yet.

earlysecond -> RE: Sayers dam. (4/13/2008 10:59:53 PM)

Can anybody share a water level report please.  I heard that the dam was already at full pool several weeks ago.  It looks as though this could be a good year for numbers and maybe size of crappie.

Thanks in advance for anybody willing to post an update.

Brent

Lipsticker2 -> RE: Sayers dam. (4/14/2008 2:45:56 PM)

As of Saturday April 12, no where near full. Crossed at Howard and it's probably 10 feet down.

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (4/14/2008 10:26:52 PM)

The fish may be up at the end of the week if the weather stays warm..

cabst119 -> RE: Sayers dam. (4/17/2008 6:59:31 AM)

Anyone catching any crappies?

STEALYS4ME -> RE: Sayers dam. (4/19/2008 6:24:21 PM)

supercrew02 -> RE: Sayers dam. (4/23/2008 12:37:56 AM)

Fished Sayers 4/22 caught a good number of crappies all were too small to keep. They ranged  6 1/2 to 8 1/2". Will try it again this weekend.
