I could carry a canoe in at the spillway for a float trip.  Anyone ever tried it?

Cab I don't know about that, at the spillway its all big rocks down to the water.
You can put in at the lower bridge that goes over March Creek, then paddle up to the spillway or into the side channel.

Ice on ice off?????

Im going to guess and say off, or at least not safe. The bald eagle was a raging river for a week... it dumps into the dam.

we're trying, was to go down saturday but with 5 inches of snow. didnt want to risk the trip on 80. nothing like an accident to ruin a fishing trip. we were going to try the dowdy hole first and then move down as needed, with the backwaters as an option.

don't know about sayers, but black moshannon is 97% ice free as of 03/29/08. i'm guessing it should be boatable below the causeway, you might try calling the ranger station for info.

Can anybody share a water level report please.  I heard that the dam was already at full pool several weeks ago.  It looks as though this could be a good year for numbers and maybe size of crappie.

Thanks in advance for anybody willing to post an update.

Brent

As of Saturday April 12, no where near full. Crossed at Howard and it's probably 10 feet down.

Fished Sayers 4/22 caught a good number of crappies all were too small to keep. They ranged  6 1/2 to 8 1/2". Will try it again this weekend.
