I've only dealt with them a handful of times, and only once did I catch the attitude. Was fishing in the DHALO on the Loyalhanna creek and the guy had me empty my fishing bag and pockets to make sure I didnt have bait. This was after he asked if I was trout fishing (while holding a rod with a TROUT magnet on the end of the line) and I said, "Yes, because this is the only water open to trout fishing right now in the area." And pulled out my book to prove it. I think he wanted to kind of one-up me, but the only place I had bait of any kind was back at the car, a good distance away. I was lucky that I read the DHALO rules in detail before going out (they sometimes change form year to year), he had nothing he could write me up for. For what it's worth, this guy was driving a dark blue car, not a white SUV; it had no light bar either. It's a shame too, because a few days before that, I was questioned by and older officer, in nearly the same spot, and he and I had a nice chat about the water and he even offered some tips for catching the trout therein. I didnt get either of their names, but it just goes to show you that you cant label them all. That's just as wrong as someone who sees a bunch of drunk, foul-mouthed guys on opening day and goes around saying "All fisherman are drunk, inconsiderate degenerates!". Still, it's also certainly not wrong to say that SOME of them really are bad apples. It's a weird state gubmint that gives its WCOs more authority than its police force.
