Fact of this matter is the fish wardens have too much power , too little knowledge , and very poor decision thought processes ( terms of consistency). Atleast 90% of the ones whom I've been search , siezed , or outright lied about for for thier revenue. Seems to me the younger they are the more you should avoid them . Don't get me wrong thier is that 10% of genuine , honest folk but watch out . I've been written up for many speculations in the past . Also I have made honest mistakes that I did deserve a fine but for the most part ; I never see them when it counts . I do know I've always cooperated with all and have been disrespected by many and friends with few.

"facts! there only your opinion, n obiously if your not a warden you got your nose buried up all the wardens browneyes. u guarantee i poked the fish, you sound as bad as the fella i made aquaintences with that day. from where he was parked ,up in front of the waterfall at troutrun, and where i was standing , down by the mouth of the creek , he couldnt of seen if i did or didnt "poke the fish" if he had eagle vision. and why would i poke a fish, for some kinda fetish pleasure. me n my buddy were walking and looking at all the fish , never even stopping or putting down my gear i said something along the lines of "look at that one" n pointed at which one i was talkin about.and we walked down to the lake put down our gear, we gocked at the lake conditions n rigged up our poles, (and thats another thing my pole was even together, 2 piece 6'6" rod). and i walked up to the car to get more stuff and here comes the ol yuppy b!chin. You have no clue who i am and if i BS. but if somebodys gonna gaurantee anything about the whole situation its gonna be me, i was there. and I GAURANTEE that I didnt touch that fish or even come within several feet of touching that fish. Hope your experiences change so your eyes will come unglued shut from what really go on. "

Seems to me that if you had your act together as much as you claim to - you would have obtained the officer's badge number and name and would have taken that information to the proper channels as opposed to whining like a little girl here - get a grip man!

People keep saying that, why didnt you get the badge # and his name. the whole conversation didnt even last but thirty seconds and he stormed back to his s10. he didnt even ask my name or look at my license. I was so stunned by what happened i didnt think of "whats his name and badge number". and if i remember right, i dont even think he was in a fish commissioners uniform. i will keep this in mind next time, for sure his buddies back in the office will enforce discipline to him. (sense the sarcasm) . i wont even comment on what else you had to say. try not to pick fights, theyll come easy enough toughguy.

Seems to me you should be following the laws more. In all my years on the streams, lakes, and ponds, I've never been fined, nor should I have. Well, there was this one time, at band camp...

I have never seen a WCO acting unprofessional. It is always a DWCO that I have seen with the attitude. I call it the "Barney Fife" syndrome. All that power goes to their head. Not all. I'm sure there are some great Deputies.

im sure he was a official of some sort. why would some civilian yell at somebody and threaten a fine.And he was driving a white or gray s10 that just looked like a state vehicle. The way he acted it seemed like he impregnated the fish himself. I just hope things change for the better and not for the worse. for those people who never ever had a problem with state wardens, congratulations and wish yuns the best of further luck. and for us who have been disrespected, degrated, and treated like convicts while just tring to enjoy a sport that the government is killing, goodluck and make sure to keep extra money around to pay fines.

They (fish cops) have stopped me and checked me probably a 100 times in the 40 years I have been fishing and have never been able to write me a ticket. But, I have been treated like a criminal, spied on, lied too, pushed out of the way(so they could search my ice hut), They gouged a big crease down the side of my boat once at Woodcock when they came in to fast to check the license hanging of my head, had a female warden that didn't understand the law almost make us inflate our butt pack life preservers so they would be legal, watched them fine a man $75 for holding his sons rod (not in the water) while the kid released a fish he had caught, even had them stop me and count my pop bottles when we came off the ice. They had checked us earlier and saw we had a 6 pack of pop and wanted to make sure we didn't throw any empties down a hole. Kinda silly..
About 75% of my experiences with the wardens have been negative in nature some down right confrontational. As I DO NOT like to be treated like a freakin criminal.I am a law abiding citizen with all my proper paper work so at least treat me as such...

As I stated ; a few honest mistakes . I follow the law but the definition of the law through a DWCO's eyes is much different from reality . Some make things up to get you fined. Case in point I was beginning my fishing at Hereford Manor several years ago ; when I parked I had noticed garbage around my vehicle which I picked up ( was not mine ) but I always pick up after folks. Anyway ... upon leaving the DWCO decided an unseen garbage bag buriied in the dirt under my truck belonged to me . Needless to say they waited until I pulled out of the place and 6 officers surrounded me like gangbusters . I about sh#t my pants and definately received an undeserved fine . Seems to me they should follow a code of ethics . All the negative impact on younger people I've witnessed has turned many kids from the sport and almost myself. I do not know how this organization sleeps at night. I wish they would disband the F&BC & let us police our own ranks ; atleast we'll treat eachother with respect and have some common sense or atleast give the underknowledged DWCO's less power they scare the crap out of me carrying those guns knowing how disrespectful they can be and thier plight . Another instance they broke into a friend of mines house over a $70.00 fine at 5AM in the morning guns drawn after the mans little girl asked whom it was they broke the chain on the door ..... knocked her to the ground and proceeded to try & collect the $70.00 ....Thats insanity ...... Imagine the things that could have happened if it was you're own house....... Be careful out there everyone .... Tight lines & remember in the commonwealth its guilty until proven innocent.....

Really interesting - all of the horror stories and not ONE example of how ANY of the situations were taken to a higher power to resolve - come on folks - you are not sounding off to a room full of knuckleheads - i really love how one "story" escalates into a nice giant snowball of whatever it is you want to call it - for if it were real - seems like a WHOLE bunch of people would be out of their positions - sorry - to me it is a bunch of whining, for if any of the complainers knew their rights, they would have taken care of their issues as opposed to appearing anonymously on here - just an observation - and yes - i have been cited and yes i took my case to the DJ Office for a hearing - at least my side was heard by another real person who could possibly do something - want some cheese to go with that wine?

I only could wish that something like this would happen to me. I would stomp my feet and curse him out until he had to call the police. It might spoil my day but it sure would spoil his too. I'm a little too old to put up with stupid crap from ignorant people. Don't forget your first amendment right allows you to tell him to go to hell, and if he gives you a ticket you'll get to drive up to Erie to fish the day of the trial.

Your missing the point . This organization is poisoning the fabric of our heritage. Fishing is my life ; and when I see these jokes of enforcment ruin a young anglers , families , anyones pursuit of happiness for that outing it makes me sick .... This is America ....... I hope they don't ruin yours.... If you fight them they'll certainly go out of there way to do it with more frequency ... I just stay away from them .

If you choose to go stick your head in the sand, then you become part of the problem and not part of the solution - i took my case, as was my right, before the DJ - i presented it in a respnsible and respectful manner, but lost - and that was ok - at least i did not go running to the inter4net to tell of my woes - i shook hands with the officer in question and have run into him several times since - no hard feelings either way - so please save your patriotism act for some moron who just fell off the turnip truck

for all you kiss asses that just get on this site to bash people. if you dont like the topic why do you constantly click on them, because you like to come on here and play mr toughguy. you can believe it or not , i have never been one to lie and have always been a man of my word. i couldve lied to you and said that i was for 100% sure he was a wco. and that he wouldnt give me his name or some other story. instead im telling you the truth im 99.9% sure. this happened almost a year ago and I cant say for 100% sure he wasnt in uniform. theres a good chance he was but i dont think so. If i really thought he wasnt a wco i wouldve knocked his teeth down his throat. So after you click on this topic again to see want kinda shyt you can start. read this and keep your moronic comments to yourself. as it shows your 45 to 1 on this argument anyway. so go start your own forum and yuns can conversate on how many angles you can get your noses completely embedded up a wco's azz.

youre the one that posted and asked if anybody had problems with wardens. had you got your panties in the bunch then, that theyre in now, you probably wouldnt have had an issue with the man. if you talked to him the way you SAY you talked to him, and IF he was a warden, i would imagine you would have gotten a fine. before you start calling people names because they answer a question YOU asked, get your facts straight.

that is the question i posted not, heres my experience does anyone wanna bash me and call me a liar? Everything i posted and ever will post on here are facts and truth to the best of my knowledge. Everything i said he said is true and everything I said I said is true. He didnt give me a fine because he knew he wasnt sure if he saw what he said he saw and felt like a dumbazz. And he probaly figured it was worth a shot to harass me to get a chance to write up a fine. If i wouldnt have stood my ground i gaurantee he wouldve searched me, my friend, and my vehicle. but i made him look like an idiot and he took a hike. I do know who he was, he was a typical pennsyvania wco azzhole no doubt it MY mind. Me and my buddy were talking about it today and he said, it was the fish warden the s10 had municipal plates . I said i wasnt sure if he was in uniform. Then a few choice half wits on here say, well you dont even know who he was.
I thought i already mentioned if you dont like the topic quit looking at it. you just get off challenging people behind a computer screen.

Dream Catcher and nightowl, nearly 80% of the jokers on this site will bash you for anything. They use false names to keep topics alive only to start conflict. I see people call out people all the time on here. Its the ones you dont see doing that (i.e. Bughawk, spoon, indiguiz, fishrmn, and a few others) who are human beings with a soul and a heart. I don't know about anyone else but I dont judge one on how they post on here, but then there are some who take everything to heart and swear your worse then a terrorist with a bomb strapped to your chest. Clearly the reason some come on here is to build their selfesteem up. I for one could careless how anyone on here thinks of me or the friends I have made on this site. What some people on this site needed reminded to them is take a crap, turn around, and put your nose close to it and take a whiff. YES YOUR CRAP STINKS TOO.

Exactly. im new to this forum and will use this opportunity to get to know who is trustworthy and honest . I would like to get a chance to know some of the good people on this site but since i started posting seems like all ive done was defend myself. I understand what your saying and i see i may as well not even bother tring. i appreciate the members who told their stories and listened to others. As i know that their stories are just about what i expect from the wco. Hopefully the good people at the wco grow to make for a better organization so maybe my children and my childrens children will get a chance to enjoy this sport i love so much. which is the the only sport i have left because i will not spend an outragous amount to buy my hunting license to donate money to an organization thats bringing that sport to an end. really the same goes for the fishing license but i cant give it up. I also appreciate the oppurtunity to use this site for what it is for, asking questions, learning and helping others, sharing stories, news etc. thanks for the advice Bigguyron.

Nightowl - ok - we got off on the wrong foot. As a suggestion - here is an avenue to pursue to get the facts straight - I say this because you really have some that are out of order.

1. All WCO's drive white Chevy Silverado's with the PFBC Logo on the sides and blue lights on top. There might be a couple of WCO's in other Districts or counties that drive Jeeps with red lights, but those have been phasing out through time.

2. There is not a SINGLE Deputy out there on the force in erie co. that drives a s10 with Municiple plates -

a few phone calls to some of the phone numbers posted on the fisherie site helped clarify MUCH of this

My point is, make some calls and do some checking before firing off a whole lot of he said/she saids - really hope your experience out there gets better -

I have had a few problems with game wadens.... Me and my firends go up and idk if they key on us because we're younger (around 16-20) or what but they always seem to say something to one of my friends. We don't snag and we release 95% of the fish..... we've been fishing for 8 years up there now, I think they should look to some of obvious "snaggers" and not profile becauase of age.

If you and your friends behave on the streams anything like how you type, I can understand why they would check you everytime you show up... I think they profile you because you cannot spell.
