"I assume loomis and fisherman are still in the "new to it" phase. "

I've been at it awhile pal, I can assure you I am not "new to it"... I joined this forum alone in 2002.  I havent fished Crooked Creek in around 4 years, last time I drove over there I counted around 25 cars from ables rd to rt 5... no thanks.

What difference does it make on how old someone is or how long they have been fishing the Erie tribs, if they can fish, they can fish?
I can personally tell you that Tim could probably land fish for fish with anyone who you consider "not a newbie"

This whole discussion is'nt whether the guy can catch steelhead. You can go to a local tackle shop, ask where and on what and go catch some.

Its was about the act posting a picture of a uncommon fish on the internet.
I have no problem with that, its just I would never think or want to do that. after thinking about it, I relized he is most likely
new to this steelhead fishing thing. Thats all, I have seen 5 cohos and 2 kings this year alone, on 3 different waterways.
again, It would be nice to have that "first time excitement" again!

mid walnut had quite a few last week. small but salmon none the less.

Heres the pic of the fish again....if you can name the trib it came from, you must be Nostradamus.  Sounds more to me like you were digging for that exact info...you turned yet another thread into exactly the opposite of what it was intended for.

A fish to remember Tim, who cares where you caught it.

What kind of reel is that in your pic by the way?

Explaining your "experience" without being asked and calling others "newbies" sounds like insecurity to me. I see it every day working with teenagers. They can't stand that someone else get attention, credit or props, so they tear them down for it. Some do it with subtlety, some more overtly.

thanks for the "shrink" opinion.LOL

shutupnfish

I just thought it might be crooked, as its known as a salmon stream.

like I stated more than once, I've seen 5 this year already.
It seems like everyone thinks its a big secret. Even if they did mention the
stream, who would even go there to catch a salmon at the end of its life cycle?
not me for sure, I actually know where a couple kings were a few days ago, most likely in the same
vicinity. one is close to 20 pounds.
I have no plans on disturbing them.

Thanks guys.

steel,

I've caught plenty of cohos while they were stocked in Erie, and I've managed to catch a few since they quit...  I didn't post this picture to brag about catching the fish, I just think it's cool to still see them around (and figured others would too).

That fish was mostly spawned out, I'm sure there were more around but light was fading fast...

Shutupnfish,

The reel is a Penn Sargus SG4000, I dig it alot.  Drag system screams real good.

Coho.

To Loomis' credit, he did miss this girl...  and then I pulled her out from under his nose next cast

Shes on her way out... and pretty haggard, but still a cool and rare catch these days in an Erie trib.

Beautiful day to be on the water.
