I've got a pair of Redington CPS waders that I loved that sprung a leak in the bootie. I'm headed to Erie next week for steelhead and am contemplating a new pair of waders. There are three waders that i'm looking at at this time: 1- Redington CPX Waders $199 with a 2-year warranty 2- LL Bean Rapid River Waders $189 w/ a life-time warranty 3- Orvis Pro Guide 3 Waders on sale for $250 from $350 w/ a life-time warranty Any thoughts or anyone with good/bad experiences with any of these? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are two kinds of waders...those that leak and SIMMS.

Just purchased the Orvis Tailwaters XT for this year and have about 15/20 trips with them. I have to say that they are the most comfortable breathables I've worn. Also seem very heavy duty and durable (5 layer front and azz-4 layer the rest). They do have an attached wading shoe, not rubber boot, felt bottom with studs. So far, I'm 100% satisfied. I got them direct from Orvis on sale for $249. Ordering breathables is always a gamble, I don't care what brand they are! Be sure the warranty is good.

ive had redington waders also then went to simms and will always buy simms. now i have the headwaters and its not about fashion its about comfort and durability and thats why i went with korkers guide boots check them out they r great

LL helix have lasted me 1 1/2 season so far. lifetime warranty so not worried. they are easy to deal with. mr slickfish, I hope you consider this useful info. dont want you have a tantrum or something.

SIMMS Only. Forget the fashion statement, if you fish enough, you want the best..... Don't even waste your time with anything else. F every other wader except Simms, there, I said it.

If you've got the money, then spend it. If you don't, get a girlfriend who does ;) I wear the breathable beans on closeout for 70 bucks... over 100 uses and they are still going strong. My father has had the same breathable hodgemans for 3 years. I guess we are blessed (2 knocks) when it comes to wading material. Hang them suckers up after every use, take care of them.

Based on what I saw, Hefty tall kitchen bags come with a bag of 3 oz. egg sinkers, a pack of Eagle Claw sz. 4 snelled hooks, and "camo" case of Busch light pounders... On a serious note, I would go with the LL Bean. Their products are good and they have, bar none, the best customer service of any company I have ever come accross...

my buddy bugdriffter tried to buy a pair of simms yesterday, so he called the factory in montana & talked to them , he said they were the most ignorant people he ever talked to on the phone. he was upset enough he told them he will never buy a pair of there waders.

ll bean has a store in the burgh, I know first hand that if you run into a problem with anything you buy from them, they will replace or refund it no questions asked.

Simms. Used this pair for 6 years. One hole due to unpleasant episode with a thorn bush, one hole in booty where the top of my big toe wore through. Lesson learned. Keep my nails cut short!

i agree with the LL Bean sentiments. great customer service. currently have a pair of the llbean wading pants and hodgemand chest waders. love em both, great prices.

Gentleman, here's a disheartening story for you Simms lovers. I just blew out a pair of waders after 7 yrs worth of wear. So, i was going out to purchase a new pair of Simms G3 convertables. They do make a great pair of waders and they are made in the USA. I checked several places and they were out of stock or didn't have my size. I decided to call the factory and see if they could point me in the right direction to find that particular wader or let me purchase it from them. The price didn't matter because all of their products have a "fixed" selling price. I was very disappointed in the attitude I received from their sales staff. More like I was a major inconvenience to them. Whomever it was definately got up on the wrong side of the bed. They probably make the best product on the market in some aspects, but I will never buy another product from them. So back to shopping again. As of now LL Bean is getting the nod. Great warranty and very comfortable fit. Bug

I got 4 hard seasons on my SIMMS...I got a few pieces of duct tape here and there but those came this year and were my fault. I fish a ton and I have to say they have been pretty good. The thing that really impressed me was that the seams have never leaked and the boot foots are still water tight.All in all 4 and a half seasons with the abuse I give them is pretty good.

hodgeman wadelite breathables 5 seasons no holes and for $95. you cant beat it . and if you dress for the occasion theyll keep you warm in the harshest of conditions

I've seen them. drank plenty of those in my day, never saw busch light 12 oz or light pounders in camo cans so i got a little excited... +1 on the hodgmans wadelite. I've had the same pair for 2 seasons and no problems whatsoever so far...
