I have three pairs of waders that I use regularly. Two are Bean waders, and the third is a pair of Orvis waist high's. Oh and one pair of neoprene that gets used once a year, maybe, and they are Bean as well. Go with the LL Bean, buy their best waders I think it's the Wicked Tough line. And you won't be dissappointed. I sent a pair back after three steelhead seasons and they sent me a new pair no questions.

HOWEVER if your getting anywhere near fifty those zippered waders should start looking good to you. Take it from me. I cant wait to put a hole in a pair of waders so I have an excuse to buy something with a zipper!

I guess I should have typed that better, I did get a store credit....used it to buy some hunting gear.

Buying Simms at retail price from Cabelas for me would be pretty dumb.

If you get a price cut on Simms waders due to being in "fishing retail", why would you buy Cabelas waders in the first place?

That's also pretty dumb, no?

Well since I just became a business this year and this was awhile ago, no, it's not.

Indeed I do....I also agree with what you just stated, and will stand by Simms making a good quality product by my standards.

I'll also agree with Loomis.

I bought my first pair of breathables in '98...Hodgeman Wadelites.  They lasted for a solid 5 years and in those 5 years, that included a 3-month season in Alaska where we lived in our waders 16 hours a day.  After a run-in with a beaver-chewed stick on the Catt a year later, their time was up.

My next pair were the Simms G3's, which I still currently own.  They have now lasted 5 years, including 2 seasons in Alaska(miles and miles of hiking through alder and buckbrush on flyouts, crawling on docks, boat maintenance, guests flailing lures and flies, etc., etc.) and guiding the tribs.  They also lasted throughout all of the trout/stream seasons in between.
They are still leakless to this day.
Formerly being on their guide program/Pro-Staff, I got them much cheaper than most would pay.  The downside was there was NO WARRANTY and I still bought them...gambling if you will, strictly on heresay reputation.

Would I buy them again?  Absofreakinlutely!!!  Do they make a great product?  You're **** right.

I have purchased many products from them over the years and I was never dissapointed and NEVER had a problem with their Customer Service.

But then again, the Hodgman's were fantastic waders as well...

Neither do I. I often see guys with chest waders on in July, wading a PA Trout Trickle thats up to their ankles. Its laughable.

Sure it is.  If Simms are so great, I have them too.  Top end Cabelas waders (that's what you had, right?) were (back then) about the same price as mid range Simms.  And if you had to pay retail for your waders at that time, you did a dumb thing, because you had to pay retail whether you bought your Simms at Cabelas or Fish UUSA or some other retail outlet.  It's ok, we all do dumb things now and then.

Ill make this simple for you since you really seem to not understand....

If your a business, you get discounts.
I am a business, I get discounts.
Before I was a business (19), I had to pay retail.
I needed waders, I paid retail.

So keep paying retail for Simms, they really like your business.  Let me know when your ready to get into a new pair and we can work something out.

As far as being durable, I have a pair of James Scott stocking foot neoprenes that still don't leak. I bought them in Beaulah, Mi. in the 80's. It was the 2nd year after  Scott introduced neopremes. Maybe I'll show up at Erie with them Looking like a sausage. I 've lost my girlish figure.

Meanwhile, I have 4 yrs. on  Cabelas bootfoot breathables, no complaints yet. $225.00
