Made a day trip to Burt yesterday, fished a few different parts of the creek. Water levels were good most of the day. Still a few fresh Kings around, many are on their last leg. Caught a good mix of steelhead and kings with some browns speckled in there as well. Most of the browns were smaller males with a few small females in the mix. Did see one nice female caught. All in all not a a bad day of fishing. I wold say the brown run is still a good week or 2 away. Fishing pressure was average for this time of year. Good day to be out hook some fish and watch the show at the dam...

Fishlady, Was there on 10-30 Saw 2 nice females caught about 6 lbs maybe and a couple steelies like you said though lots of fisherman and dead kings managed to land 1 king. Hooked prob. 20 but I only had 6lb test due to the fact that I was expecting more steelies and browns!

I run 8lb all the time. I figure you can always use lighter leader.. I did not lose a whole lot of fish with the exception of the ones hooked in the other end. It is surprising how much pressure you can apply with a longer rod. We are going back up next weekend for a few days, hopefully the number of browns will pick up a little this week. I can get my fill of steelhead here in Ohio, but those monster browns are something else..Hopefully the water levels will be decent.

Fish lady;  I just got back from the Oak and 18 mile. A lot more fish at 18 and of course a lot more people. I was staying at a cottage near the Oak, but went to Olcott two times last week. If the brown trout numbers are going to pick up at either, then I'm real interested in coming back. It was the least amount of fish I had ever seen at the Oak. Some were caught, but it was slow for most of the week. The Kings at Olcott were in fair shape for this time of year.

Fished it 11-4 to 11-8...place is a joke. The browns are gorgeous, the steelhead strong...but the littering, foul language and snagging are enough to turn me away. I have had some great memories from that stretch of water. The "tailfighting" of fish all the way down stream is ridiculous, it takes all kinds. I had a fellow cast over top of me when I was fighting a nice brown, I saw guys keeping dorsal hooked browns and putting them on stringers, I saw a twelve inch brown on a stringer, my eyes still bleed from the things that happened there. It was an embarrassment to anyone who calls themselves a sportsman.

I second that.....I was with Anadromous and we have been fishing 18 mile for quite a few years and probably will never go back. At least when the kings are there, boy do they draw a "certain" kind of crowd. It kinda makes you sick to see 12 inch browns being put on the chain of death just because they are females. But all in all caught some real nice fish. A few 12lb plus male browns. We also got a couple of huge females and steelhead. Saw one Atlantic caught (drug in backwards). Heard of a 19lb steelie caught at the piers.

It is silly up there. 80% of the people have no respect for the the fishery.
