Status: offline 		Being fairly new to fly fishing, and practicing spey casts in bigger water, I was wondering what your favorite go to flys were. big or little water. Plumbob who ties a lot, probably wonders too.

Status: offline 		My go to pattern is a Lady Caroline. Nomatter the water temp or clarity, I have pulled a fish on that pattern. I have caught more fish on my truder fly I do though. It gets much more water time though. It really doesnt matter what fly you are swinging when you are only targeting hot fish. A hot fish will take any pattern, or at least grab it. I got a truder tied up for you and Bob both. Just a matter of getting together. It gets alittle trickier when you have a bunch of neutral fish around. Neutral fish will be more likely to strike a drab sparce pattern. The Lady Caroline fits that bill. Negative fish wont strike anything a swinger has in the box. Leave them fish to the sucker spawn and sac guys. The main thing in swinging is confidence. The swing guides around here toss either sculpins or tubes. Sculpins push alot of water drawing fish in. Tubes with the hot colored wings entice the player. The main thing is find your little piece of the pie and run with it. Hope this helps some.

Status: offline 		Scandinavian tubes, temple dogs, probably the next thing I'll get into tying.  As if i don't have enough flies tied up now.  Thanks for the link anadromous, it's interesting.  Bet my wife will be thrilled when I blow another $100 or so on materials to tie these.

Yuri Shumakov, master tyer and pioneer in the developement of tube flies, deceased now, I believe.

Yes Yuri has passed on.  Here is another link    www.canadiantubeflies.com     Has several step by step tube patterns.  Plus lots of flies to look at and base your own on.  I use alot of these styles anytime I feel like swingin.

Status: offline 		There is one on the Canadian Tube Fly site called something like "Russian style intruder".  It is tied on a plastic tube with several cones on the tube itself.  Been very productive for the local stream smallmouth.  Haven't tried it for steel yet but I plan on it in New York early next week.  Thanks for the other sites, I'll check them out.  Maybe do some last minute tying before I leave tomorrow lol!
