The weather will be spectacular and the fishing will be awesome this coming weekend - all due to the fact that I will most likely be jammed up with work and unable to make it to Erie.

How are the tribs looking up there guys?

Looks like current conditions link in weather & waves says that Erie got almost 1 inch of rain last night in only 4 hours.  If that is correct I am assuming the creeks are high and muddy today.

Anyone hope that the smaller eastside streams might be fishable later on today?

Walnut is at 747 CFS....so I'd say she's high and muddy.  Blown out enough.  Watch the guage tonight and see what happens for tomorrow.

Just came back from east side cricks. All blown out!!!! might be good by tomorrow to fish. Water was tolerable till 930 and then all heck broke loose and they rose 2 feet. Bring your raft for this afternoon and some paddles.

Got in 2 hrs. before the flooding. One little trib that usually only has 6" of water was 20' wide with rapids. The leaves will be gone for sure.

Here's an improved question of the often heard questions about stream conditions...

At what water Level does walnut start to become unfishable?  If you can generally state it, perhaps they will be less questions; and out-of-towners could get a general idea whether they are facing dirt brown, murky, or barely changed conditions.

I understand the difficulty of pinning down numbers when its sometimes subjective factors that play into the whole "is the water too high to travel to Erie".  Anyway I'm not asking for anyone to help make my decision whether to travel to erie.  just some general info regarding normal water levels on Walnut gauge.

I like the cam, but honestly its a little low res and hard to make out.

Jolie,

Here's a pretty helpful post on that question put together by pxatim: http://forums.fishusa.com/Erie_stream_conditions_and_trip_info/m_242653/tm.htm

I fished Walnut late Sunday afternoon till dark, and the flow was between 50&60 cfs. It was a decent flow with quite a bit of clarity. The water was tea stained though from all the leaves. I'd pretty much agree, from my experience, that 90 and below on the fall is just about what I'd consider to be "prime." Of course different fishermen would consider different conditions to be "prime" though.
