#1 Spring - Striper Season is my favorite

#2 Summer - Like being on the water in @ 5:00am in shorts & sandles (bass are hitting in the pads).

#3 Fall - Cooler nights, nice days, love the smells in the air... although fishing can be hit or miss.

#4 Winter - I do enjoy ice fishing, but still it's just something for me to do during the cold months.

I gotta go with Brian ............... the striper fishing is just way too much fun .... especially now that i have them figured out and can catch em pretty consistently.

after that..... it's ice fishin on Lake George.

i gotta give up baseball if i want to fish more any other time of the year but after not playing for 12 years i won't quit again until i am on the physically unable to perform list.

Classic line yellabella ........ my wife went striper fishing with me about 10 years ago in the Ship of Fools 1 .... a 12' rowboat and swore she wouldn't go again until i got a bigger boat....... so that is why i still have a 12' rowboat!

Same response after an ice fishing trip .. so it's just the boys fahtin and pahtyin.....

My ranking:

1.) Fall - weather is comfortable, generally not too hot, not too cold. Woods are beautiful. Pressure dies off after Labor day. Big smalljaws are feeding up for winter...

2.) Summer - Weather is warm, days are long.

3.) Winter - Not my favorite, but I'm a lot better at finding things to do outside in the winter now than I used to be. Ice fishing, tailwaters, snowshoeing, etc...

4.) Spring - Fishing can be good and the days are getting longer, but constant rain and high water is a downer. My least favorite season, by far...

Great answers guys!!!

here's my ranking

1. Fall - so many things peak, its **** difficult to choose what to do on a given day - bass, walleye, trout, deer hunting, small game hunting - and the weather is perfect!

2. Winter - ice fishing - 'nough said

3. Spring - At some point during the spring, every species of fish has its peak bite of the year...

4. Summer - I hate the heat.

For me its a real toss up between spring and fall. In the spring all the insects are hatching and catching big trout on a dry fly is tough to beat, but in the fall you have a chance at catching trophy trout that are running out of our lakes and reservoirs. Can you tell I am a die hard trout guy.

Nice question

Here is my reply:

1: Spring : I am so busy in the outdoors with so many options.
My first hit is April steelhead, second Ice out for pond brookies , third ADK stream fishing, try and get in some turkey hunting and a small amount of stripers on the fly. May is a head spin... Bugs or not Spring is where it is at for me !!

2: Fall : last ditch on stream trout, pond brookies then off to the GL's for a pay day of Salmon.. Once Bow season opens I'm in a tree unless I'm getting paid not to..I try and fish for browns & chrome as much as I can between bow & the big Bang of flames out of my barrel.

3: Winter: Ice is nice, a great day in a heated shanty with friends is awesome. The pop of a flag and tug on the hand line makes the day sweet. Winter steelhead ranks second to that but getting to wade open water sure makes life grand...

4: Summer : I hate hot humid weather. A/C rules. Try and get projects done before my 3 seasons happen...
But BB taught me about big bass & how much fun lunkerville can be. I burned out on bass fishing years ago but have a new respect...

LOL. Winter would have been first, but the thing is there is just so much going on for a NY sportsman in the fall...plus fall comes just before winter...its so close it got bonus points

1.Spring-   Ice out, Trout opener, stripers (formerly american shad also), crappies    yowzah!
2.Winter-   Especially nice for those of us without boats.  SO many species to choose from around here too. No Bugs.
3.Summer-  Largemouths rule, but the pannies are always available.  Great to have big bass in a foot of water.
4. Fall-  Salmon River is cool but only get there rarely. Other than that, short days, dead weeds, leaves in water, fish suspending- pah!
