Or you could just go to Elk, walk a little ways, and not have to spend 1/3 of your fishing time untangling lines or bumping elbows with morons.

The only time I had to untangle my lines was when he walked in to the hole. Believe it or not it wasnt crazy on Walnut yesterday. I tangled with nobody else but him. Same with other people. He probably got caught 50-60 times with other fisherman that day.

I found these by searching old forums. Hopefully they are updated.
I understand people's frustration with snaggers and jerks, but if all you ever do is post it on here, nothing will change. Ya gotta make the call...

You DO know that the fish can swim further than Rt 5?  Right, or wrong that's the way things are in that area. And if you choose to fish there, learn to accept the stupidity with no .

KMP,

I'd put money on the FACT that those fish that were being caught in white water of the first jack dam were 99% lined fish.  Sure the hook was in the mouth, but that fish did not "bite" your offering.  Same with the Horseshoe falls and the first few fast runs below.  I proved my point at the first jack dam sunday...  told a fellow to drift a bare hook and see what happens...  sure enough one cast later...... in the mouth.  Garbage.

Welcome to THE WalNUT Creek Access

Let it be known ethics do not exist on these waters. Be prepared to have anglers competatively throw over your offering , give you funny looks , snide comments , snuggle into your arm pit , help you reel in a fish with additional lines, and please be mindful not to slip on any of the accumulated rubbish . Enjoy YOUR resource and please give way to the fish swimming towards anglers backwards . Have a wonderful day . PFBC

------Never argue with dumb or drunk people. They will beat you down to their level of thinking and win everytime, they are more experienced at this low mentality. Or play their game and put 10-12 lb test on a second rod you can take along and drag a few spoons into his line and nick the crap out of his line so it breaks everytime he hooks into a fish.

The fish definently took my offering considering they were well into there mouths and they would always bite when i gave my bait a tap..you couldnt see a thing that day and i doubt that any of them didnt bite because not one came out snagged nor were hooked in the wrong spot. Heres a secret, if theres alot of fish use a small float so that foul hooking fish is less likely

Not everybody that catches fish in the fast water below the Jack dams, or the runs below the horseshoe falls is snagging or lining. I caught quite a few on Monday and Tuesday. I had some heavy tippet on early, and wasn't doing too well. I changed to 6 lb. Seagur flourocarbon, and started hooking fish, mostly on SS. I wasn't lining them with the heavier tippet, and don't consider the fish that I landed with the lighter tippet as "lined". I prefer not to sight fish, but with the water conditions that we have been given thus far this season, what else is there. I had one or two turn and chase down SS today. I landed ten, and I don't belive that any were caught illegaly.I caught one small brown that pretty much inhaled SS. If I wanted to, I could probably hook up nearly every drift, but that just wouldn't be right. Saw a guy below the first Jack dam today after them with a treble hook, probably size 4 or 6, with a single wax worm on one of the barbs. I reported him to the Officers on site, don't know hw it went down. As for as the foreign speaking snaggers, you can't shame them. The guy with his wife was up in the chutes on Monday. He was "fishing" with a bare hook with three split shots the size of grapes. I reported him also. Didn't see them on Tuesday.

While I'm in the posting mood, not too often, I ran into a young fellow up in the chutes yesterday afternoon, with a dog on a leash and his girl friend following him. I said, "Hi, how's it going." He said "Not so good, I got dragged off the stream yesterday evening." I asked him why, He said " Because I left my girlfriend in the car for 12 hours on Sunday" She was still mad at him! Go figure.

LMAO he must of down sized the shot due to conditions ...... Sunday it was (2) 1/4 ounce split shot 18" above his 1/4 ounce spoon . I know cause i cut his line after he threw over me and threw his rig back across stream to him a little shy of the bank he did get it back though

If you see someone in a rural area then yes turn them in if they are doing something wrong. But the fish commission knows what goes on north of rt 5, yet it continues to happen, and they are there 24/7. That is not our problem or duty to turn those folks in or confront them. The fish commission should put a stop to it. They need to make their presence known and this bs would stop.

A strike indicator will make a huge difference if you are lining a lot of fish.  It positions your offering and line straight up and down through the water column vs. a straight line from pole to hook which would run sideways in the water.  Line running sideways in the water will hit fish, forcing your fly to wrap around.  If you set quick, often the hook will snap forward into the corner of the mouth.  You will occasionally snag fish with a strike indicator, but the occurances are significantly reduced.  A floating fly line, if mended properly can actually work as your indicator.

If he is breaking the law, was he ? Then call the WCO from the stream. ****in on here is not going to do anything.

If hes just an idiot, move on or speak up to him in person. But that tricky, there are a lot nuts out there with weapons and short tempers. You gotta expect the idiots at Erie, it gets worse every year, big fish make stupid and ignorant people worse......

I thought he was referring to the size of the indicator......That's why I asked why the size of the indicator made a difference...

Griffon is absolutely right. The problem I see all the time is not fishing straight up and down. Guys use an indictator in a run 3' deep but have it 10' above the fly. Add a dropper and you have a real good chance of a foul hookup. A few weeks ago I pulled my line so a guy above me could play fish after foul hooked fish. I don't think it was intentional, he just didn't know any better. If you are not swinging, fish straight up and down.
When you lose the fish and see the scales on your hook, take a hint.
