On my last few trips up to Erie I found myself catching at least one of my fish on Otter's soft milking eggs.. They seem to work pretty well and I was wondering if anyone else has a lot of success with these, and if so what color / patterns do you normally go with?

I've had some good success with 'em. Here's a link that's on the tutorial section:

This pattern uses the otters soft egg as the egg sac on a zonker - thread a red bead on 10 lb. test mono, then thread on a clear otters egg over the bead. Tie this loop of mono in under the head area. Pretty good producer:

Some say that they are not too durable but if "tied" by following Walt Mueller's (he's the producer of them), they last pretty long.

I started off with them october 4th. I used the natural on a sixteen with yellow thread as a base layer before adding egg. Since they are translucent I like something other than hook being projectected by the egg. (don't know if it matters). I caught several fish on the eggs before I has to switch up. I used them on again and off again all day with pretty good success. It is hard to imagine why they wouldn't work. Pretty good placebo. I have trouble keeping them from ripping up however but I simply Zap a gapped them so....I fiqured as much. II am open to tying tips for a more secure pattern.
Steely, that alvin is the bomb buddy...cool pattern.

Thanks, I wasn't able to make it up last spring when I wanted to so I sent a few to a buddy of mine up there in Erie and he had some success with it. Anyway, if your having trouble with the durablility of the eggs you may be "tying" them a bit wrong. I'll try and put up a step by step on the tutorial section tomorrow. I can honestly say that I've never really had any problem with them coming off the hook or tearing when tied following Walt Mueller's directions. Walt is the guy who manufactures them and is a really good guy.
