i broke the handle on my 20 yr old l l bean rod over weekend.i,m looking into new rod.like to spend 100 or less. i do mostly trout fishing but go to erie for steelhead ,whats the best length and weight for this and make

I have an Echo Ion 10' 7wt...its new, but so far I love it. It was almost double your budget, but the Echo Solo might be right up your alley. I think they make a 6wt which would be good for steel.

I'm not a fan of big name sticks but orvis makes a entry level rod called streamline. You can pick up a "streamline" 6wt. 9ft for 98$. I use a 8wt, for steel but I'm building a 6wt. 9ft. 5 piece for erie so. 6 and 7 wt.s you don't have the power to reign in a hard charger like you do with an 8wt. But you don't have flexibilty to fish with a 8wt,. stick in spring creeks either.

The orvis streamline con in 5,6,8wt. in 9ft. and a 7 and 8 wt. in 10. All around a 100 dollar bill.
