For the last 6 days I have been stuck in PJ's and never been so sick before in my life. It really puts me down when I can't even get enough strength to put my waders on much less get out in the water so for over a week I have not been fishing, putting up tree stands or scouting my areas for next weeks opening bow season. Instead I would come and sit by the computer wrapped in a blanket and read through some of these posts and at times just bite my lip & bow my head but today I felt like typing a bit and maybe (I doubt it though) hang a tree stand.

So this forum : FishSalmonRiver:
Some and very few of us left have been here a long time and starting late Aug thru Oct we see the same things. A pretty much dead forum spring to life with just about everything under the sun. As you may notice The ones who have been here the longest often have the least to say. They offer good advice when asked, encourage good fishing practices and at times just cant take the B.S. in between. I always encourage new people to come on board and share good experiences or helpful information so others may learn & have a good fishing experience. Too often that is not the case and it just starts to turn to the ugly side of he said she said.. ENOUGH of that crap... Soon enough the Salmon will be gone and so this forum will settle back to dust until next Sept. Really folks, There are some VERY good anglers here who have taken the time over the years to offer advice to people who may need it, why should it become something different ? There are other forums where that is common practice and that’s the way "they" like it but that’s exactly what has led to some of the best fishers in the area to no longer post or offer advice. That’s not what "we" want here. We (I) would like to see people come join in add constructive input and some day maybe create a lasting friendship toward the fishery and ourselves. To much to ask ? Maybe but at the very least folks should be respectful toward the fishery and the forum.

So try and enjoy what is left of Salmon season and if hardy enough maybe stick around through out the winter.
There is still plenty to discuss but lets keep a focus on the discussions.

Peace & Tuna

Yeah,

I think helping others is a good thing, sometimes though it is frustrating when all of your really hidden secret spots get found out, but I'll say it before and say it again everyone deserves the right to catch a trophy of their lifetime.

I'll tell you though, you get a little older and its a lot harder to motivate yourself to take those long trips when like you were younger by yourself.  I cancelled 2 salmon fishing trips because I did not want to go it alone.  Back in my early 40's I had no problem going it alone.

The big issue is I work all weekends, and have weekdays off, it definately pays the bills and keeps me fishing, but all my good friends have weekends off and either don't fish or only fish weekends. or raising kids.  Hell, I can't even motivate myself to go erie tribs, thats only 2 1/2 hours.  Honestly I know the depression has been setting back in again, frustrating, and I even work in the mental health field, the cases have been tougher lately, but I like to know I made a difference helping someone else out, there are some truly sad cases out there but the ones that make it, make it worth your while.  Ah maybe next year I will find a good fishing partner to fish with.  I turned my nephew on to steelhead, and he catches on real quick, but he is studying to be a medic, and is chasing the women, I did the same when I was younger, but had to much fun drinking the beer to meet the women.  Those were crazy but fun days.

Next year

Silverman, know how you feel,my brother just had his first baby and we would usually meet on the Salmon about 20 weekends a year. He's in Conn. and it was like the middle meeting place for us.His "wife" kinda put the smackdown on all the trips,I understand it,being a dad for 17 years now,but the 7 weekends I have spent up there this year so far are not the same without him.He gives me crap for going and I would do the same to him,we understand that place is like a disease that there is no cure for, till you stand in the water and prepare to do battle, all is well then.Get out and hit a trout stream close to home, nice and peaceful this time of year.Give me a yell when you want to hit the tribs for a day,I'll get a case of fishitis and take off work.Glad your up and around tuna, good luck tommorrow.
