thinking of going to pym. tomorrow will be cold and mostly clear with a decent breeze never fished linesville stumps in the fall should i let the high pressure and lack of cloud cover stop me how big of a deal are these negatives in the fall and do the crappies stay in the stumpy shallows all summer or do they move back in the fall ??? any help would be appreciated.

You would be better off to try the South end of the lake from my experience. The reason is because it is deeper and the Crappie usually stack up in the deeper brush piles and structure areas! As far as the weather conditions......I always do better with a south or west wind, sunny days always produce more fish, and try to get out there just before and during a new moon phase. There can be some great Crappie fishing on Pymy during October and November.......it just takes some scouting for structure.....

loby, perch should be moving in soon, also.  saw some nice catches up at padanarum a few years ago, as well as the bay near pennview allotment.  the lake has a decent perch population.  think the walleye should be fattening up now, also.

Yes the Perch are hitting right now..........If you find em'..........you can fill the cooler up in a hurry!

was up there this past weekend for muskys had one follow no takers but the perch were actually following our 6 to 8 in musky lures to the boat must not be much for them to eat if they are trying to eat those lures caught a couple on a grub ang jig (12in biggest) must be alot of perch in there

I had knee surgery and can't really get around very well. Is there any good shoreline spots on the Pennsylvania side for perch or catfish?

bigcat, i work with a guy who fishes the shoreline on the west side of the dam near jamestown.  he and his buddy do well for panfish this time of year, or so he tells me.  i have no reason to doubt him.   lots of shoreline areas as well as close parking all over.

Bigcat, you could fish from the walkway in Espyville...from what I keep reading, its not the best place on the lake to be fishing, but its accessible.

well we made it up to pymy last sunday fish the linesville stumps with minnows only a few perch not one crappie?? could not luck into a walleye. the only fish we marked were after lunch along the causeway i think they were the dink purch we were catching.we were the only boat out there till 10 am. any ideas why pym was so good this last spring??

oak, i think most walleye fishermen will be moving down to the jamestown area this time of year.  perch will be moving in shallow.  not sure about slabs.  if chaunc was still here, he could set you up on crappie.

My cuz and I want to try our luck  up at pymatuning in the next few weeks and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best place to stay and where to rent a pontoon?

I have rented pontoons from the livery at Jamestown (NE corner) for $90/day during the week, higher on weekends. It includes your gas. They have always been good to customers.

If you go and want another angler to come along, let me know. I'll kick in for the boat rental.

The State Park cabins are one of my favorite extended weekend destinations, especially if it is 4-6 people to split the cost.  You do need to pack your own linens, pots and pans and soap and other stuff though.  I'm sure you could probably find cheaper, for two guys.  But if you are into camp fires and cooking your own food (preferably fresh feesh!!!) and being close to the lake, the extra cost is worth it in my eyes.  You may even spend less, since you won't be forced to eat out.  They get booked up pretty quick, but Pymy's seem to have cancellations and openings in the fall.

Almost forgot, watch out for the shallows..
Pymy is down at least a foot and where I launched at(Orchar rd) was super shallow.
My motor hit coming in and I have a very shallow draft..
